Roberts of Norfolk, Va., spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Duffy Wade. Mr. Craig Willis left last week to enter the freshman class at East Carolina College, Greenville. He spent the weekend at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Willis. Mr. Thurman Willis went to Win ston-Salem, where he will undergo I medical check-up, yesterday. Mrs. T. 0. Willis left Friday for Washington, D. C., to visit her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Bailey. Miss Jane Oglesby, Miss Mar garet Guthrie, Miss Sally Morris, Miss Johnette Styron, Miss Bar bara Williams, and Miss Judy Wil lis left Wednesday for East Caro lina College, Greenville. Smith Jr., to Miss Rachel Jenkins. David Nelson and David Marks have gone to Raleigh, where they entered the freshman class at North Carolina State College. Mauli Jr. and daughters, Cynthia Lynn and Lois Jeanne, have moved here from Philadelphia, Pa., and are making their home on S. 15th St. Mr. Maul! is a naval inspector and has his office in the postoffice building. Sgt. and Mrs. Walker Stewart and children, Judith Ann and James have moved here from Mi ami, Fla., and are living on Ro chelle Drive in Mitchell Village. Mrs. Deyo Entertains At Bridge Luncheon Mrs. Percy Deyo was hostess it a bridge luncheon Friday at the Morehead Biltmore Hotel in honor of her houseguest, Mrs. Reba Ben nett of Miami, Fla. Twenty-two guests were served lunch at a long table centered with floral arrangements. Luncheon con sisted of vegetable Juice, shrimp salad plate, sherbet and lemon wafers and coffee. Four tables of bridge and one table of canasta were played on the mezzanine. Mixed nuts and mints Were served during progres sions. High score at bridge was won by Mrs. Jack Burrusa, second high by Mrs. Gus Davis, and low by Mrs. Philip Ball. Mrs. William H. Hcrwiand won high at canasta. Out of town guests were Mrs. James O. Hodges of Jacksonville and Mrs. J<An MacCormack of Atlantic. Aug. 20, for the marriage of Miss Phyllis Ann Smith and Larry Wells. The Rev. J. T. Fisher, pastor of the Salter Path Methodist Church, officiated. The parsonage was decorated with white asters and gladiolas with greenery. The bride wore a street length sheath dress of pink embroidered linen with white accessories and I corsage of white asters. Misi Linda Smith, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a street length dress of pink da cron with a fitted lace bodice and full skirt. She wore pink acces sories and a corsage of roses. Mrs. Larry Wells Mr. Hugh Cartlaright of Salter Pith, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mr*. Jim A. Smith of Salter Path. PACTHXNT STOU Married Saturday Morning Mrs. James Davis Mellon Jr. The Fir?t Methodist Church was the Betting Saturday morning at eleven o'clock for the wedding of Miss Jane Turner Stroud and James Davis Mellon Jr. The Rev. J. F. Herbert, pastor, and the Rev. R. E. Walston of Fayetteville offi ciated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. Cecil N. Stroud and the late Mrs. Stroud of this city and the bride groom is the son of Mrs. James D. MeUon Sr. and the late Mr. Mellon of Winterville. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore her sister's wedding gown of french nylon tulle over slipper satin, fashioned with a finely pleated bodice. The portrait neckline was circled with a deep band of chantilly lace and a pleated tulle flounce topped with lace bordered the skirt and court train. Her fingertip veil of bridal il lusion was attached to a beaded coronet. She carried a prayer book, a gift of the bridegroom, topped with an orchid and showered with valley lilies and satin streamers. Mrs. J. C. Harvell was her sis ter's only attendant. She wore a waltz-length dress of topaz taffeta with a harem hemline. She wore matching shoes and hat and car ried a cascade bouquet of bronze daisies and ivy tied with ribbons of sage green and gold. Attending the bridegroom as best man was Jerry Cance of Water bury, Conn. Ushers were J. C. Har vell of Morehead City, Bob Mays of Greensboro and Jack Thomas of S&nford. Mrs. Mellon received her AB de gree from Duke University in 19M and for the past two years has been a faculty member at More head City School. She has also completed two summers of grad uate study at Duke. Mr. Mellon Is a first lieutenant In the USAFR and has served with the Air Force in Europe and Af rica. He attended N. C. State Col lege, receiving his BS degree, and was a faculty member at More head City School last year. He is a recipient of a National Science Foundation scholarship for grad uate study at the University of North Carolina for the coming year. Clam chowder, fried mullet, shrimp salad, cole slaw, corn maf fins, lemon pie, coffee and iced tea, was served by the Anne Neal Circle of Ann Street Methodist Church. The invocation was given by the pastor, the Rev. John M. Cline. Following luncheon, guests wete invited to tour the control room of the new bridge. Several hundred attended the opening ceremonies. Cable Breaks The steering cable on a 22-foot cabin boat operated by J. D. San derson, Morehead City, broke as he was on his way to Morehead City from New Bern Sunday.
