Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Sterlen spent Sunday in New Bern visiting Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hansen and family. Mrs. J. S. McLohon spent the weekend in Richmond, Va., visit ing her husband. Wynne, Havelock; Lionel Pelletier, Stella, ; and Paul Koonce, Hague. They will return Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Richard D. Ruby and baby, Ricky, spent the week end with Mrs. Ruby's grandmo ther, Mrs. John H. Buck, Macon Court. The Ruby's were en route from New York to Florida. They recently returned to this country from London, England where Mr. Ruby was stationed with the Navy. Mrs. Ruby is the former Betty Davis, Naples, Fla. Mrs. Cecil Oglesby and her daughter, Cecilia, went to New Bern Saturday. Membership Tea Given By Junior Woman's Club Sixty members and prospective members attended the tea given by the Junior Woman's Club Wed nesday afternoon at the borne of Mrs. Dick Parker. Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Coolidgc Merrill, president of the club, greeted the guests. They were as sisted by Miss Elizabeth Lambeth and Mrs. Thomas Noe. Mrs. Harry Venters and Mrs. W. M. Brady poured coffee and Mrs. Marion Milla and Miss Alida Willis presided at the tea table. An assortment of sandwiches, nuts, mints, stuffed dates and cheese straws were also served. Arrangements of white gtadiolas and yellow chrysanthemums were used throughout the home. Each guest was presented a name card < with a miniature chrysanthemum,! fern and ribbon attached. Church Women Discuss Landscaping of Grounds The Women of the Wildwood Presbyterian Church met Friday night at the church and discussed plans for landscaping the church grounds. Mr. R. M. Williams, county farm agent, has drawn plans for the landscaping and the women decid ed to follow his suggestions. They will begin the work in October. Mrs. Bonner Bell was in charge of the program. The Teaching Fel lowship. Mrs. Atlec McCabe gave a review of the stady booklet. Meet Dr. Luke. Eleven members attended the meeting, which was presided over by Mrs. Maurice Richardson, pres ident. Thursday Evening Club Meets at Phillips Home The Thursday evening bridge club met at the home of Mrs. Jas per Phillips lasT week. Mrs. David Munden was a guest. The hostess used arrangements of fall flowers and American Beauty roses for decoration. High score was won by Mrs. Robert Laughton, second high by Mrs. S. A. Horton and low by Mrs. Phillips. Those observing birth days were Mrs. McCabe. Mrs. Robert Davis of Beaufort. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Paull of Beaufort and Mr. Tom Garner of Newport. A spaghetti dinner was served with lemon fluff pic and coffee for dessert. Three tables of cards were in play. Those attending, in addition to the bonorees. were Mrs. Garner. Fidelis Classes Enjoy Turkey Supper Monday The Fidelis Class of First Bap tiat Church met for a turkey sup per Monday night at the church. Guests were members of the Fi delis Class of Parkview Baptist Church. Supper consisted of baked turkey with dressing and giblet gravy, candied yama, string beans, con gealed salad, relishes, hot biscuits, cake and beverage. Flowers and lighted candles were used on the table and mantel. Mrs. W. J. Laughton gave the devo tions and Mrs. Addie Howard gave the meditation, Placing God First. Mrs. Ralph Wade presented sev eral apecial selections and group singing waa enjoyed. Karen Lynn Phipps Celebrates Birthday Little Karen Lynn Phipps, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey F. Phipps, celebrated her second birthday recently at her home In West Newport. A pink and green motif wis used. Party hat* and balloons were fiven as favors, but best of all were the rides on Karen Lynn's pony. To complete the occasion, ice cream and cake were served. Esther Rebekahs Raise Money for Building Fund The Esther Rebekah Lodge spon sored a bingo party Wednesday night at the recreation building. Proceeds from the party, $97.95, went to the building fund. Mr. Herbert Whitehurst, Beau fort, won a coverall prize, a table lamp donated by R&N Furniture Co. Mrs. Ruby Wickizer won ano ther coverall prize, a musical lazy susan, donated by Early Jewelers. Hamilton Furniture Center do nated the door prize, a tv lamp, won by Mrs. Gerald Phillips. Other prizes were donated by Ottis Fish Market, five pounds of shrimp; Meadows Seafood Co., five pounds of fish; Sanitary Fish Mar ket and Restaurant, a $1 25 dinner; Lindsey Guthrie, a can of shorten ing, and Kib Guthrie, a bottle of catsup. The remainder of the prizes were donated by lodge mem bers. Mr. A. N. Willis conducted the party. Refreshments of cold drinks were served. Miss Cecilia Ogiesby Honored at Shower Mrs. Rufus Ogiesby and Mrs. Harvey Gaskins Jr. entertained at a shower Friday evening in honor of Miss Cecilia Ogiesby, bride elect. The shower was at the home of Mrs. Ogiesby. The guest of honor and her mo ther, Mrs. Cecil Ogiesby, were presented white carnation cor sages. Games were played, prizes awarded and then Miss Ogiesby opened her gifts. Punch, square of bridal cake, nuts and mints were served from a table centered with white car nations and white candles.
