Mrs. Joe Roberts and daughter, Judy, left Saturday for Baltimore, Md. They were called there by the death of Mrs. Roberts' bro ther, Jimmy R. Davis. East Carolina College students home for the weekend included the Misses Jane Oglesby and Judy Willis. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Strollo of Beaufort, S. C., spent last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mart Davis. Mrs. Frank Marino and Mrs. Bruno Marino drove to Durham Wednesday to take Butch Marino for an examination at Duke Hos pital. 't Mrs. Bertha Stallings left Satur day for Silver Springs, Md., to spend a week with her daughter, Mrs. Jack Lazenby . and family, before flying to Pasedena, Calif., to spend the winter with another daughter, Mrs. Ben Wade and fam ily. Mr. and Mrs. Bom Watson re ? turned to their home in Wilson Thursday after spending a week r> at their cottage here. Mr. and Mrs. James Tyler of Kinston were here last week. They recently sold their cottage on Shcp ard Street to Col. Freeman of Ma con, Ga., and he was here to take possession. The Freemans will not move here until the first of the year. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Gray and daughter, Cbnnie, of Wilson were weekend guests of her sister and brother-in-law, the Bcv. and Mrs. Sam Moore. Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wade and family of Kinston spent the holi days here with relatives. Miss Ruth Macy of Kinston spent a week's vacation last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Macy. Mrs. Bobby Bell and Mrs. Clif ton Nancc spent a few days in Raleigh last week. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Roberts have returned to their home in Hampton, Va., after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Willis and Mrs. Duffy Wade. Lt. and Mrs. James D. Springlc and children have returned to their home in Aberdeen, Md., after vis iting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. P. McKnight and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Springle. Mr. Eugene Doherty of Boston, Mass.. spent two days last week with Mrs. Lcla Chadwick. Mr. Do herty was en route to Ft. Lauder dale, Fla., for the winter. Mrs. Iva l'arncll of Kinston and her son, Donald Miller, who is stationed in San Diego, Calif., with the Navy, left Saturday after spending ten days with Mrs. Par nell's sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. The singers are a group of ten students who are chosen for their talent and ability as musicians. Francis Swanson, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Swanson of this City, sings tenor with the group. A 1957 graduate of Morehead City High School, he is a sophomore at East Carolina. To Wed This Month Mr. and Mrs. Wilson N. Pennington Sr. of Jacksonville, Fla., an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Margaret Fay, to Gerald Mathew Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Miller of Newport. The wedding will be Dec. 20 at six o'clock in Normandy Baptist Temple, Jacksonville, Fla. Esther Rebekahs Term Bingo Benefit Successful The bingo benefit sponsored by the Esther Rebekahs Lodge Satur day night was termed successful by lodge members. Prizes for the benefit were donated by the fol lowing merchants: Meadows Fish Marked, Rhue's Gulf Station, Ottis Fish Market, Hamilton's Furniture Center, Morchcad City Florist, Charles Freeman's Grocery, Styron's Sound Appliance Co. Thursday Evening Club Meets at Weeks Home The Thursday evening bridge club met last week at the home of Mrs. H. A. Weeks, who used roses and other flowers through out her home. Mrs. Dick Parker was a guest. Mrs. S. A. Horton won high score, the hostess won second high and Mrs. Gus Davis won low. The hostess served pecan pie with whipped cream and coffee. Mrs. Robert Laughton was remem bered with a birthday gift from the club. The club will meet at the home of Mrs. Bruce Willis this week. P. H. Geers Entertain Couples Club on Friday Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Geer Jr. entertained the couples bridge club at their home Friday night. A Christmas motif was used in dec orations. Mr. Billy Oglcsby won high, Dr. Jerry Norris won second high and Mrs. Norris won low. The Geers served candy, mixed nuts and colas during play and mincemeat pic with whipped cream and coffee for dessert. The club meets this week with Mr. and Mrs. Billy Oglcsby. Named to Chorus Miss Gaynelle Gray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarencc F. Gray of Newport, has been chosen for membership in the Meredith Col lege Chorus. Mrs. Hyman Jr. to Head Rosary-Altar Society New officers were elected at the meeting of the Rosary-Altar So ciety of St. Egbert's Catholic Church Wednesday night at the school. The officers will take office in January and will be installed at an installation dinner to be held at Rex Restaurant in late January. The new officers follow: Mrs. T. C. Hyman Jr., presi dent; Mrs. Elmer Veitch, vice president; Mrs. Peter Pagano, treasurer; Mrs. Ellen Johnson, secretary. Mrs. Hyman gave a report of the bazaar, held recently at the school. She announced that the bazaar was a complete success and that over two hundred dollars was made. Mrs. Vic Bellamah, outgoing president, presided. Mrs. Norris, Mrs. Noe Entertain on Thursday Mrs. Jerry Norris and Mrs. Thomas Noe entertained nine ta bles at a dessert bridge Thursday afternoon at the Jclferson Coffee Shop. Y a u p o n, chrysanthemums, a Christmas tree and miniature snowman and snowlady were used to carry out the Christmas motif. The tea table was centered with a candy tree flanked with candles. During progressions the hostes ses served candies and fruit punch. On the tea table were assorted cookies, open faced and ribbon sandwiches and coffce. Mrs. Billy Oglcsby won high prize, a reindeer card holder, Mrs. Howard Barrow was second high, imported candy, Mrs. James Webb was low and won gift wrap, and Mrs. Bill Baugham won the float ing prize, a nut cracking set. Dan Whealton left yesterday by plane for Seattle, Wash., after spending a leave with his parents. Preaident Linda Wiilia called the meeting to order and we aang the Girl Scout tone. During the buaineu session we discussed plans for our Christmas party and decided to help a needy family. This waa the first year that our troop has been registered so we had a birthday party. We had a white cake trimmed in green with one candle. This year four new girls joined our troop. Women of the Moose Will Decorate for Yule Party The Women of the Moose will meet at the lodge on Atlantic Beach Dec. 16 to decorate the hall for the annual Christmas party. Each member ia asked to bring some sort of decoration. The party will be held Thursday, Dec. 18, at 8 p.m. and members are inviting their husbands. There will be games and refreshments.
