The firm had its beginning in

was virtually unknown then and
Mr. Bell's business consisted only
of supplying the families with cof
fins, most of which were made of
wood.
Ia 1930 Mr. Bell came to More
head City and started tbr Bell and
Hill Funeral Home which was lo
cated in the 900 block on Arendell
Street. The name was later
changed to the Bell and James
Funeral Home when, in 1931, Al
Tri. iimr wfmt vT-r ?
Mrs. W. H. Bell
... part owner
fonso H. James came into the
business. Mr. James is presently
clerk of the Carteret County su
perior court.
In 1932 the business moved to
the corncr of 7th and Bridges
Street into a home owned by Mrs.
Minnie G. Way of Beaufort. This
served as the home of the firm
until the present site was built.
The firm took the name of Bell
and Mundon in 1956 when Mr. Mun
den purchased half interest in the
business from Mrs. William Bell.
Bell-Munden Funeral home is
also the home of the Carteret
Mutual Burial Association, which
was founded in 1932. Mrs. Bell

Design for Living...
There'* nothing pleasant about arranging for a funeral. Bell
Munden of Morehead City are fully aware of that fact ? and that'*
why they have replaced the grimneu of the old "undertaker's parlor"
with the most up-to-date facilities that can be incorporated in a modern
funeral home.
Actually the new Bell-Munden Funeral Home was designed for
the comfort of the living, and nothing adds more to the comfort of the
customers of any business than properly designed lighting and year
round temperature conditioning. Bell-Munden take particular pride
in their Heat Pumps. Through their use the funeral home will be kept
warm in winter and cool in summer ? silently, automatically, and with
no smoke, fumes, dirt or draft*.
If you are planning a new home or thinking of remodelling your
place of business, ask our representative to tell you about year-round
comfort conditioning ? electrically.
