Mr. R itph CkiMi visited Ml slater and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mr?. Edward Beard, In York, 8. C., lilt week. He attended a party in Charlotte, N. C., Saturday night. Mr. and Mr* J. 8. Steed visited their daughter-in-law and son, Mr. and Mrs. James Steed, in Ahoskie Sunday. Their granddaughter, Janet Steed, returned home with them for a visit. Miss Bobbi Dennis, Miss Sterling Chadwick and Miss Jean Chadwick are spending this week in New York. They also visited Miss Den nis's brother, Johnny, who is sta tioned at Cape May, N. J., with the .Coast Guard. Mrs. Pritchard Lewis returned home Monday from a visit with friends in New York. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Copeland of Winston Salem and Miss Roberta Hinkle of Thomasville spent the weekend with Mr. Copeland's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Copeland. Miss Patricia Daniels returned Saturday from three and one-half months' field placement with the Gastonia Welfare Department. She left Monday to rejoin the first year class at the School of Social Work, UNC, Chapel Hill. Mrs. Jack Dill returned home Friday from Melbourne, Fla., where she has been spending the winter months. Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Paul return ed home Monday from a week's visit in Cincinnati, Ohio with their niece, Mrs. Dorothy Day Hittinger, her husband and six children. En route they stopped in Baltimore, Md., to visit their daughter. Mary Frazier Paul, and son and daugh ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Paul. Mr. and Mrs. O. Holland and Mr. Warren Davis, Falls Church, Va., spent the weekend with Mrs. J. J. Davis at Smyrna. Mrs. Davis re turned home with them Monday. Her son, A dm. James W. Davis, who is stationed in Paris with NATO, will arrive in the states the first week in April to attend the celebration of the tenth annivers ?ry of NATO. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Bradley of Kipling were weekand guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Windley. Mrs. M. Leslie Davis Sr. lias re turned home after spending the winter with her sons, Tom of Sel ma and Dowd of Wake Forest. Mr. and Mrs. John N. Miller, Highland Park, have as their guest this week Miss Murl Griffin of Jamesville, N. C. Bobby Safrit arrived last night from the University of Georgia, Athens, and is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Safrit Jr. He will return to Georgia Sunday with his sister, Jane, who has been here several days. The nicest thing that could have ever happened to Beaufort took place last Saturday night at Win ston-Salem. The Beaufort Seadogs defeated the St. Pauls Bulldogs, 62-54 to capture the title of state champs. ? On Thursday night they defeated Jonesville and on Friday night they did a repeat performance by winning over JamesviUe. Congratulations go to Coach Tom McQuaid and his boys, Pud Has seli, Sam Merrill, Butch Hassefl, Leon Thomas, Allen Autry, Frank Potter. SULLIVAN Mrs. Ruth Noe Sullivan, 58, died Tuesday at her home in Beaufort. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 yesterday at the Adair Funeral Chapel by the Rev. John Ctme, pastor of the Ann Street Methodist Church. Burial was in Oceanvicw Cemetery. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Daisy Jean Kenard of Beaufort; one sister, Mrs. Ed Bccton of Bachelor; two brothers, William and Earl Noe of Beaufort, and one granddaughter. MRS. FLORENCE M. HUNN1NGS Mrs. Florence Murphy Hunnings, 1 49, of Marshaltberg died Thursday morning at Sea Level Hospital. Funeral services will be held at the Missionary Baptist Church. Marshallberg, at 2 p.m. tomorrow. The Rev. James Buchanan pas tor, will officiate. Burial will be in Victoria Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Melvin Fulcher of Harkers Island and Mrs. Monnie Fulcher Jr. of Stacy; three sons, Luther Edward of Empire, La., Robert and Tommy of Stacy; three sisters. Mra. 3. B. Hostesses Entertain At Bridge Party Tuesday Mrs. George Huntley Jr., Mrs. Thomas McQuaid and Mrs. Adam Metz were hostesses at a dessert bridge Tuesday afternoon at the Blue Ribbon Restaurant, Morehead City. The Easter motif was carried out. The tabte of central interest was decorated with a white Easter egg tree hung with colored eggs. Miniature Easter hats were given as favors. French apple pie and coffee were served for dessert. There were twelve tables ill play. Mrs. William Potter won high score, Mrs. Ronald Earl Mason won second high and Mrs. Leslie Moore won the floating prize. Junior Women Will Begin Work on Scout Building Members ?f Ike Beaufort Junior Woman' & Club met recently at the Koine of Mrs Wttey Taylor Jr. and discussed plans for cleaning up the Scout building. The club voted to give $50 to wards the project to go with the 150 donated by the Beaufort Jay cees. The Junior Women will write letters to other organizations ask ing for donations to help redec orate. The women wiM meet April 6 at the building, dressed in work clothes, to begin the work. Mrs. Frank Langdale, club pres ident, presided at the meeting. The ways and means committee suggested that, as a means of raising ftinds, a fall fashion show, dessert bridge and canasta party be given. No decision was made.
