Newport Man Sentenced
To Serve Six Months
A Newport aaa, Early Thomas
Taylor, was acataacad to srrve six
months in jail lloadar after he was
convicted of careless and reckless
driving in court action at Morehead
City recorder's court. Taylor had
originally been charged with drunk
driving but the warrant waa
amended ta raad careless and reck
less driving. Judge Herbert O. ,
Phillips III suspended the jail sen
tence on the conditioa that Taylor
surrender his driver's license for |
45 days and pay a fine of $100 and
court casts.
In other court actian, S. A. Tur- 1
nage appeared before the court !
charged with drunk driving. After
pleading not guilty she was found
guilty as charged by the court. Her
00-day jail sentence was suspended ,
on the condition that she pay a ,
fine of $100 and court costs. The

Arturo R. Maldonado Jr. and
Randolph Jones appeared before
the court charged with failure to
comply with a former court order.
Maldonado's 30-day jail sentence
was suspended on the condition
that he pay all fines and court
costs and Jones' 30 day sentence
was suspended on the same condi
tion.
The court dismissed charges of
tailing to comply with a former
court order against 15 defendants.
The fifteen were: Martin Davis,
Annette Barrett, Alfred and Ber
nice Anderson, Bernice Anderson,
Alfred Anderson, Cicero Jones.
Junior Branton, George Murray,
Theodore Lawrence, Johnny Jones,
Johnny Lee Jones, Clifton Rose,
Willie Stewart, Berry Johnson,
vin Reels, and Guy Lewis.
Seventy-eight cases were contin
ued until later terms of court.

Judge Phillips continued 14 cases |
until next week's term of court.
