County Experiences
Two-Hour Outtage
Power was out in all of Carteret
County from 4:35 a.m. to 6:23 a.m.
yesterday. George Stovall, man
ager of Carolina Power and Light
Co., said that a burned-out trans
former in Jacksonville was the
root of the trouble.
The 110.000 - volt transformer,
which steps the current down to
12,000 volts, was located in the
Jacksonville substation. When it j
burned out it knocked out the trans
mission feeder line, causing a pow
er ovttage.
Mr. Stovall said that in addition
to Carteret. Jacksonville, New
Rem and Craven County were
probably affected by the outtage.
