Girl Scouts, Brownies Report Recent Activities Girl Scout troop 123 in Beaufort opened their recent meeting with a business discussion. We voted to have uniforms and did work on My Country badge. After we had refreshments, we went to see Ma Taylor to wish her a happy birthday. We dismissed with our Girl Scout promise. ?Clara Safrit, Scribe Second grade Brownie troop, un der the leadership of Mrs. Ed Weeks, met Monday at Camp Glenn School. A menu of turkey and all the trimmings was draws up. Mrs. Lola Gray Guthrie, club president, and Mrs. Pauline Smith, arts and crafts leader, showed the 12 members present how to make tier plates by using a special drill that has been given the club. Fancy sandwiches, potato chips, olives, pickles, homemade fudge and coffee were served buffet style by the hostess, Mrs. Elena Arthur. are asked to attend this week's meeting, to be held Thursdaunght at 8 at the home of Mrs. Lillre Hes ter. New members welcomed are Mrs. Delores Tillman, Mrs. Eliza beth Bryant and Mrs. Lafayette Pickett. Queen of the South, chapter 209, Order of Eastern Star, will have two guests at its meeting tonight at 7:30. Rotary Club Hears Talk on Petroleum C rover Munden, program chair man at the Thursday night meet ing of the Morehead City Rotary club presented guest speaker Don Davis who talked to members oil the petroleum industry. Mr. Davis, who is publicity man ager lor Phillips ? Petroleum Co. in Raleigh, discussed several prod ucts made from petroleum He emphasized the fact that petroleum research was an expensive and long-range project.
