Give Her Gifts
With Sweet Scent

A woman it likely to exhibit ex

She may aik for jewelry, furs and

Few men can understand that
perfume, though expensive, is a
necessary accessory to the ego of
some women.' Ditto for other gifts
she craves that seem unimportant
to the man.

not?
It should be fun for a man to in
dulge the whims of women if it
fits his budget. He shouldn't buy
just perfume, however. He must
find out what type his little bundle
of joy prefers.
If she's the type who wears
glamorous theatre suits, sophisti

woodsy, mossy types of scents or
the pungent, spicy blends of frag

If a man can't splurge on per
fume, there are other fragrances
available to satisfy her yen for a
Christmas scent. Colognes and
toilet waters are lighter substi

There also are scented soaps,
sachets and hand lotions to put in
her stocking, and little gift sets
containing scented items, such as
one little replica of an old-fashion
ed spice rack containing cologne,
soap, cream sachet.

Baptist Hospital to Build 'Hotel'
For Patients Not Seriously Sick
Winston-Salem ? Baptist Hospit
al's new minimal care unit, a fa
cility designed to reduce the costs
of hospital care to the patient, it
scheduled lor completion in 1960.
The early beginning of the $600,
000 program was made possible
when the Baptist State Convention
at its recent meeting in Greensboro
voted to permit the hospital to bor
row the necessary funds and begin
work as soon as possible.
A campaign to raise the money
will be conducted among friends
of the inititution. The former stu
dent nurses' residence will be con
verted into the new facility, which
will be something of a "hotel" for
patients.
Hospital officials explain that pa
tients who are convalescing from
surgery or other illnesses and oth
ers who are having diagnostic ex
aminations often do not require the
full service* of the hospital They
need to be near their doctors, lib
oratories, and other departments
but are able to take care of them
selves.
Such patients will be housed in
the minimal care unit at a price of
approximately $7 a day instead of
the $17 to $22 a day which is the
cost of a room in the hospital prop
er. They will get their meals in
the cafeteria, which may be
reached wluaout going outdoors,
and will walk to doctora' officea
and other placet in the hoapital.
Room (or TS patienta will be
provided in the "Patienta' Hotel."
Thia will releaae 75 beds in the
hoapital (or the acutely ill.
Rooma will be private and each
will have ita own bath, lounge
chairs, rugs on the floor, a tele
vision set, air condition, and a sofa
bed in case a relative accompanies .
the patient and wiahea housing ac
comodations. There will be an at
tractive lobby where they may
gather to viait.
In the hospital proper, 2.71 per
sons are employed (or each patient.
