\ MIRMMON
Dec. 21 ? The Merrimon Home
Demonstration Club had their
Christmas party in the community
building on Dec. S. There were
twelve membert present, eleven
husbands and quite a number of
children. i
Every member carried a gift to '
exchange. These were placed un- 1
der a beautiful lighted Christmas
tree, after singing a number of j
Christmas carols.
Our new president, Selvia Carra- '
way, gave the scripture reading
using the second chapter of St.
Luke. Laura Hardy then led the 1
prayer.
Mrs. Mildred Lawrence read a '
story, What Christmas means to .
Me.
Lois Stallings and Thelma Pitt
man then led the group in a num- .
ber of games, which kept everyone .
in an uproar. Very funny.
After this Ellen Dixon and Shir
ley Pittman came out with a flan
nel board they had collected, old
snapshots and photographs of the
club members, made many years '
ago. They had them mounted on 1
the board and each member had to '
tell who each one was. This was a 1
scream.
During the first of the year I I
promised a prize to the club mem- I
ber reading the greatest number 1
of library books, and keeping a 1
list of them for the year. One ?
reason I did this I have a book 1
station in my home, and I get so I
much pleasure reading, 1 wanted
to share them with some one else, i
After checking we found that Thel- <
ma Pittman had read the most. 65 ,
in all, with Flossie Pittman next <
with 39.
Most people ask where did they
get the time to do all this reading, |
both are busy housewives. Thelma
did all her work and had a part- '
time job all during summer, and
fall. And Flossie, oh well I would f
not like to have to keep up with t
her, and she going to curb market
three times a week. 1
While this was going on Fannie I
Wallace, Dora Wallace and Lois (
Stallings were busy cutting pies c
and cakes, pouring coffee, cool ade t
and hot chocolate, and every one
enjoyed this part of the party. 1
