The St. James Methodist Church choir will present a program of Christmas music Sunday evening at 7:30. Bridge Club Meets Mrs. W. D. Roberts was hostesa to the bridge club Friday evening. Mrs. Parker Guthrie won high score, Mrs. Hazel second high and Mrs. Solon Perkins and Mrs. Mar vin Gray won slam prizes. ' Bingo was won by Mrs. C. H. Lockey. The hostess served pecan pie and coffee. Celebrates Birthday ' Mr. I. N. Hjward, who celebrat ed his 89th birthday Thursday, Dec. 17, was honored with a dinner at his home last Sunday. Mrs. Ed Howard of New Bern, Mrs. Snowden Thompson of Beau fort, Mrs. Robert Howard and Mrs. Jack Howard of Morehead City and Mrs. Floyd Garner of New port prepared and served the din ' ner. Other children here were Mrs. C. W. Gill, Harry and Earl How ard, all of Raleigh and Mrs. E. P. Blair of Vanceboro. One daugh ter, Mrs. Steve Hunter visited him Saturday but was not here for the dinner. Circle Meets The Bessie Herrington circle met with Mrs. Clarence Millis Monday evening for their December meet ing and Christmas party. Thirteen members were present and Mrs. Joel King was welcomed as a new member. The program was given by Mrs. W. D. Heath Jr., and Mrs. George Pollard. The theme used was "The Light of the Nation." A short busi ness session followed, and plans were made to take a bit of Christ mas cheer to a shut-in. Duri' t ihe social hour the host I f Six Carteret Residents Finish Course at Air Base Si* Carteret residents were among 14 who received certificates of graduation from a 40-hour su pervisor seminar at Cherry Point recently. The certificates were given last Friday by J. M Willis, industrial relations assistant. The seminar was designed to de velop and improve the supervisor's understanding of the psychological aspects of human behavior, and the ability to deal with everyday problems of personnel manage ment. Alvis Daniel, pastor of Wildwood Presbyterian Church, announces two evcaU for this week. The annual Sunday School Christ mas tree program will begin at 7 p.m. Wedneaday. The smaller children will take part and treats will be distributed to all.
