with her son. Maurice, for his home
in Falls Church, Va., where she
will spend some time.
Rehearsal Party Honors
McNamara-Hastell Pair
Mrs. Claud Wheatly Jr. and Mrs.
Ray Hassell entertained at a party
Thursday evening at the Wheatly
home following rehearsal of the
McNamara-Hassell wedding.
The home wa? decorated in a
Christmas motif except for the din
ing room, which followed a red
and white color scheme. The ta
ble was covered with a red cloth
and held a decorated three-tiered
wedding cake and an arrangement
of white narcissus.
Mrs. Hassell poured coffee and
Miss Pam Hassell served the cake
after the first slice had been cut
by Miss Rae Frances Hassell and
Tom McNamara. Nuts and mints
were also served.
The bride wore a corsage of pink
camellias. About sixty guests at
tended.
Duplicate Tournament
Winners are Announced
Mrs. Floyd Chad wick and Mrs.

duplicate bridge tournament Fri
day night at the Inlet Inn. Second
place went to Mr. and Mrs. Floyd
Sutherland.

reation for high school students.

munity achievement contest and
has purchased a $25 membership
in the symphony society They
also voted to donate $25 to Cas
well Training School. It was an
nounced that members had been
asked to take part in the mothers'
march for polio to raise funds for
the March of Dimes. They voted
unanimously to do so and the town
was divided into sections for can
vassing.
It was decided that the next
meeting will be held at the Scout
building with Mrs. Bryan Loftin
and Mrs. Wiley Taylor Jr. acting
as hostesses.
Mrs. Frank Langdale, retiring
president, was presented a gift of
jewelry from the club members in
appreciation of her work during
the year.

Obituaries
MRS. TAMSY M. DANISM
Mrs. Tamsy May Daniels, 66. of
Atlantic died Monday morning at
the Camp Lejeuae hospital. She
was a daughter of the late Simon
and Martha Dowty Hill of Pam
lico County.
Funeral services were conducted
yesterday at 2 p.m. at the Atlan
tic Methodist Church. The Rev.
David Lewis, pastor, officiated, as
sisted by the Rev. Philip Quidley,
pastor of the Baptist Church, and
the Rev. Henry Van Kluyve, pas
tor of the Free Will Baptist Church.
Interment was in the community
cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Lee
Daniels; three daughters, Mrs.
Robert Raeburn of Wilmington,
Del., Mrs. Lester Babbitt of Davis
and Mrs. G. L. Ricks of Ports
mouth, Va.; oik? son, L. L. Dan
iels of Kernersville; one sister,
Mrs. Herbert A. Williams of Wash
ington; three step-sisters, Mrs.
Ella P. Bounds of Richmond, Va.,
Mrs. Roma Noe of Raleigh and
Mrs. Olga Fields of Farmville;
two step-brothers, A. L. Paris and
R. S. Paris, both of Norfolk, Va.,
and six grandchildren.
ANDREW MASON
Andrew Mason, 70, pf Stacy died
Monday at his home after a lengthy
illness. Mr. Mason was a veteran
of World War 1 and a member of
the Beaufort American Legion.
Funeral services were conducted
Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the home
by the Rev. James W. Lineberger,
pastor of the Methodist Church,
assisted by the Rev. Gordon Se
bastian, pastor of the Free Will
Baptist Church. Burial was in
Stacy community cemetery.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs.
Allie Gaskill of Stacy; two bro
thers, Bradey Mason of Stacy and
Calvin Mason of Davis; three sis
ters, Mrs. Ellen Gaskill, Mrs. Flor
ence Smith and Mrs. Gladys Gas
kill, all of Stacy.

Alice Faye Taylor, 10, of Sea
Level died Monday evening at Sea
Level Hospital following a long ill
ness. Site was suffering froin an
incurable disease.
Funeral services were held at

Four Hostesses Entertain
At New Year's Eve Party
A New Year's Eve party was
given Thursday night at the home
of Sandra Thompson by Miss
Thompson, Becky Lawrence, Janie
Gillikin, and Dana Thompson.
A red and white motif was car
ried out with crepe paper stream
ers. candles, pine and balloons. A
Christmas tree was also used. The
table was centered with a punch
bowl surrounded by pine. At each
end of the table were placed red
candles surrounded by pine.
The guests played records and
danced. Refreshments of punch,
nuts, mints and potato chips ware
served.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brown
have returned from Owensboro,
Ky . where they were called due
to the death of Mr. Brown's
brother, who at the age of 14 suc
cumbed to leukemia.
Mrs. Rena Smiths and son,
Douglas, of Owensboro, Ky., spent
a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Hal
Willis last week.

Sheriff Hold* Prisoner
On Gas Theft Charge
Walter Leo Holliday, 22, Raleigh,
is being held in the county jail on
charges of stealing gas from Hin
son's moving vans at the rear of
the llinson Moving and Storage
business in Morehead City.
Sheriff Hugh Salter took Holliday
into custody Tuesday in New Bern
after questioning him Holliday
was tried and convicted in New
Bern on motor vehicle violations.
Holliday is being held without
bond because he is also wanted
by the probation department, Ra
leigh, sheriff Salter said.
