Recreation Group Seeks
Players to Start Combo '
Plans (or forming a musical
combo were discussed at the adult
recreation program Wednesday \
night at the recreation center. It
was discovered that several mem
bers could play instruments and
they were invited to bring them
to the next meeting. It is hoped
that the combo can provide dance
music for the adults.
Anyone who is interested in join
ing the combo, whether they have
attended recreation meetings or
not, are invited to call Mr. George
Jackson, PA6-3S02. after 4 p m. or
Mrs. Mary Hughes. PA6-4363, be
fore 4:30 p.m.

roast at Swansboro Wednesday
night. Twenty-one persons attend

Horse Show in May
i May 22 has been set as the date
for a spring horse show in Beau-j
fort, to be sponsored by the Beau
fort Lions club.
I Appointed as the steering com
mittee to make arrangements for
the event are L. J. Hill, Charles
Hassell, Bill Cuthrell, and Logan
Whitehurst. The horse show site
has not been decided as yet, but '
the event is expected to draw en-l
tries from all over the state.
The steering committee travelled
to LaGrange Sunday to confer with
Paul Barwick, who is chairman of
the annual LaGrange horse show,
which is sponsored by the Jaycees.
Also making the trip to LaGrange
was J. P. Harris who is working
with the Lions on the show.

St., and sold it to the Hugh R.

friends in this area.
Surviving are his wife, Rita, and
three daughters, Gayle, Donna and
Lynne, all of the home.

50, died at his home in Newport
Friday night Funeral services
were conducted Sunday at 3 p.m.
at the home, with the Rev. M. O.
Sears, pastor of the Missionary
Baptist church, officiating. Burial
was in Ann Mariah cemetery.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs.
Francis McClanahan of Virginia;
his mother, Mrs. Edna G. Prescott
of Newport; three sisters, Lt. Cdr.
Edith Prescott, USN, of Ports
