Potter returned home this week from Pensacola, Fla., after spending two weeks with her son, Captain Potter Jr. Mrs. Harvey Smith left Wednes day for a visit in New Orleans, La. Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Bennett spent the past weekend visiting in Nor folk. Va. ' Mr. and Mrs. John Perkins re turned home Wednesday after vis iting relatives of Mr. Perkins in Burlington and in Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mclntyre of I Rocky Mount arrived Wednesday to spend several days at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Neal. The Neals are in Durham, where Mr. Neal underwent an operation at Duke Hospital. Miss Mildred Jones Is visiting her sister. Mrs. James Moon, in Lineville, Ala. Mrs. Charles Cheek underwent an operation Tuesday in a Smith field hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Levin Bennett had as their guests over the weekend Mr. and Mrs. John LeFoe of Wash <7 ' ington, D. C., M/Sgt. and Mrs. Arthur E. Baer and son, Arthur, adn Miss Lois Clark of Odenton, Md. Mr. and Mrs. B. J. May spent the weekend at Mr. May's home near Lexington. Mr. and Mrs. Ricnard Moore of Raleigh spent Sunday here with his mother, Mrs. W. S. Moore. Mrs. C. L. Beam left yesterday for New Orleans, La., where she will visit Mr. and Mrs. James Hun nings. Mrs. Beam s two sisters from Cherryville will aceompany her. Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Brown re turned to their home in Washing ton, D. C., yesterday after a brief visit here. They attended the fu neral of Mr. Brown's brother in Wilmington Tuesday. Heads Bridge Unit Mr. A1 Dewey was elected presi dent of the North State Bridge unit at the three-day tournament in Ra leigh over the weekend. There are about 800 members in the unit, according to Mr. Dewey, who di rects the Friday night duplicate bridge play and is a member of the County Bridge league. Mrs. Edgar Earl Cole Miss Edith Leona Baer became, the bride of Edgar Earl Cole in a double ring ceremony Saturday, Feb. 20, at seven-thirty at the home of the bride's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Levin T. Bennett. The bride is the daughter of M/Sgt. and Mrs. Arthur E. Baer of Odenton, Md., but makes her home in Beaufort. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Burris B. Cole of Beaufort and thf? late Mr. Cole. The Rev. John Cline. pastor of ( Ann Street Methodist Church, per formed the ceremony against a background of white gladiolas and carnations, fern and burning can dles. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a floor | length gown of bridal satin with overskirts of net and chantilly lace. | The fitted bodice was designed with a sweetheart neckline and| short sleeves, embroidered with seed pearls and sequins. The bouffant skirt of net fell from a pointed waistline and fea tured a redingote of lace. She wore matching mitts appli qued at the elbows with lace em broidered with seed pearls and se quins. Her fingertip veil of hand rolled illusion fell from a pleated tulle cap encrusted with seed pearls and sequins. She carried a white Bible topped with a bouquet of white carnations. Miss Lois Clark of Odenton, Md., was maid of honor and the bride's only attendant. She wore a floor length gown of pink net with an overskirt of white lace. The fitted bodice featured pencil shoulder straps. She wore a matching headpiece and carried a nosegay of pink and white carnation. Mr. James Holland of Beaufort served as best man for the bride groom. The bride's mother wore a light blue chiffon dress and a corsage of pink carnations. The bride groom's sister, Mrs. Namon Nassef of Kinston, wore a blue crepe dress with a corsage of white carnations. Following the ceremony a recep tion was held at the home. Mrs. John Johnson presided at the bride's book. Mrs. Levin Bennett presided in the gift room. Mrs. Christopher Dennis of Swansboro and Mrs. John LeFoe of Washington, D. C., poured punch and Mrs. James E. Crowe and Mrs. Vic Bellamah served cake. The couple left on a short wed ding trip, after which they will be at home at 113 Queen St., Beaufort. The bride is a graduate of Arun del high school in Gambrills, Md., and is employed at Bowen's Mov ing and Storage Co., Morehead City. The bridegroom graduated I from Beaufort high school and is employed as assistant manager at A4cP Co., Beaufort. C Miss Lila Frances Tyndall Weds Simon Adrian Becton Saturday Miss Lila Frances Tyndall of route 5 New Bern and Simon Adrian Beeton of Bachelor were married in a candlelight ceremony Saturday evening at eight o'clock at Antioch Free Will Baptist church. The Rev. Clinton L. Lupton. pas tor, officiated, assisted by the Bev. James Lupton, pastor of Seven Springs Methodist Church. Nuptial music was presented by Miss Eloise Stilley, organist, and Miss Sadie Louise Harris of Bachelor and Newport News, Va., soloist. Miss Harris sang Mine, Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life and I'll Walk With God. The church altar was arranged with baskets of white gladiolas and carnations, palms, and white cathe dral candles in seven-branched candelabra. Given in marriage by her uncle, Mr. Kenneth Tyndall, the bride wore a floor length gown of peau de soic designed along empire lines. The rounded neckline dip ped to a deep V in back and long fitted sleeves tapered to points over the hands. Her fingertip veil of illusion edg ed in lace was attached to a tiara of seed pearls. She carried a bou quet of lilies of the valley, center ed with white orchids. Mrs. William T. Lyons of Roan oke, Va.. was matron of honor and the bride's only attendant. She wore a gown of blue velveteen fashioned with a fitted bodice with round neckline and bracelet length sleeves, and a bouffant skirt. She wore a matching velveteen headdress and carried a bouquet of tawny gold roses. Christening Attended By H. B. Daniels Family Mr. and Mrs. H. Burton Daniels were at Elon College last weekend for the ehristening of their first granddaughter, Jane Elizabeth Danieley, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. E. Danieley. They were ac companied by their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Valverta Garner of Newport, and their daughter, Patricia of Greenville. Jane Elizabeth was christened Sunday at 11 a.m. in the new Elon College community church by the Rev. W. J. Andes, minister, assist ed by Prof. A. L. Hook. Professor Hook assisted at the christening of the baby's brothers, Ned Daniels, 6, and Mark Samuel, 4. The dress worn by the baby was the same one worn by her brothers at their christening. The goblet I holding the christening water was a gift to Ned from his godfather, Dr. N. F. Brannock of Elon Col lege. Godparents for Jane Elizabeth ! are Dr. and Mrs. William P. Cavin i of Spartanburg, S. C. In addition ! to Jane, Ned and Mark, Mr. and Mrs. Daniels have two other grand sons. Dr. and Mrs. Danieley entertain ed thirty guests at a luncheon fol lowing the christening. Davis Legion Auxiliary Meets With Mrs. Salter Murphy-Willi? Unit 295 of the American Legion Auxiliary met at the home of Mrs. Alonza Salter, Davis, Tuesday night. Miss Macy Mallard of Trenton, district presi dent, was the guest speaker. Mrs. Gerald Salter, president, presided. The group discuased plans to attend the district meet ing in Swansboro March 7. Two members of the Davis unit will take part in the program. Final plans were made to have r pounding for a veteran's family. All members of the unit were ask ed to participate. The hostess served open face sandwiches, ??* ke, potato chips with dip and punch. Mrs. Piner is Hostess To Tuesday Bridge Club Mrs. Sammy Piner was hostess to her bridge club Tuesday night at her home. She had as guests Mrs. John Haynes, Mrs, John Jones and Mrs. Frank Langdale. Prior to play the hostess served chocolate eclairs and coffee. Dur ing progressions she served colas and potato chips.
