Lamm Te?n Topic* Teams Complete Season; Beta Members Plan Trip By ANDREA McKNIGHT Well, friends, I guess you know by now that I did not write my col umn last week, and I am terribly sorry. I was swamped with so much work that I could not find time to write the article. Please forgive me. Last week on Friday night our j basketball teams traveled to Jones Central to play in the conference games. Our boys played a fine I game but were defeated by Pam lico 48-44. As you can see by the score, the game was an exciting one. Our boys went to Jackson ville this past Thursday to play Hoptown. I'm sorry that I don't have the scores on that game. Our girls' team competed with the Jones Central girls. Our girls kept a close pace with the JC girls, but to their dismay lost the ball game by a score of 72-53. At tbe half the score was only five points difference, 34-29 in Jones Central's favor. On Thursday, Feb. 25, the Beta club met at activity period. The meeting was opened by the presi dent, Annette Cooper, followed by devotions by Suzanne Beck. Those students who wished to go to the Beta club convention in Ra leigh were asked to let the club know. Mary Phillips, Doris Phil lips, and Patsy Nelson are going, plus John Crowe, Robert Eure and Fred Willis, who are supposed to hold the ballot box. The club then saw two films en titled Getting the Best Out of High School and What College Should You Attend? The meeting was ad journed following these films. I know several other clubs have met this week. I will be most hap py to put it in the paper if you would appoint someone to write the article concerning the club and turn it into me by Tuesday morn ing. I would appreciate this very much. Miss Senior of MCHS this week is Geraldinc Renee Reid. Geri was born Jan. 13, 1942, in our friendly town, Morehead City. She has not grown too tall as you can tell by her 5' tall stature. And she weighs a tiny 102 lbs. Her blue-green eyes go with most anything she wears; her dark brown hair is beautiful, especially when she pulls it back into a French roll. If you want to get on the bad side of Geri, just call her Geral dine. You can almost see the fire pop out of her eyes. Her favorite foods are spaghetti, pizza burgers, and chocolate milk with either of these. Geri enjoys working cross word puzzles and thinking about Gary Walters, her steady beau. Her favorite sports are swimming and water-skiing, in the summer. Geri enjoys listening to What a Difference a Day Makes by Dinah Washington during her spare time, and saying "Let's Go." Can't you just see Geri putting around in a "little" car like that? You have heard it said that peo ple do not mind being laughed with, but they detest people who laugh at them. Geri is one of those peo ple; her pet peeve is people who laugh at her. But can you blame her? During Geri's four years in high school she has been a member of the Beta club, FBLA, annual staff, FTA and glee club. She was presi dent of the FHA last year and was co-editor of the school newspaper, The Eagle, this year. She was also one of our school's best cheer leaders for two years. She is sen ior class treasurer this year. Geri's been an active girl, hasn't she? Geri is not sure yet about her future plans, so I will just say she is thinking about them. Good luck, Geri, whatever you choose to do. Mr. Thomas Kemp Glancy is this week's Mr. Senior. Tommy was born on July 9, 1942, in More head City to Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Glancy. Tommy is 5T\ weighs 145 lbs., has gray eyes and "red" hair. He does not like to admit he has red hair and I guess he will be displeased with me for saying that but I just had to. Tommy is a mess! You should hear his laugh when he says "My ambition is to become a million aire." I'm telling you it sounds almost like a motor starting. He is certainly ludicrous. Get this now! Tommy's hobby is racing. (Just wait 'til his par ents read this. Dum-de dum dum!)
