CHEERLEADER CLINIC Alabama's high school cheerleaders are learning that yelling is an art. They go to college to perfect their gyrations. The two-day clinic for high school cheerleaders was started at the University of Alabama six years ago. About 250 at tended the first clinic. This year, more than 1,600 attended. The clinic was sponsored by the Ala bama High School Athletic Assn. Cliff Harper, director of the association, says the purpose is to show the youngsters the art of crowd control, with a positive ap proach to cheering. The university's cheerleaders, as well as some of the out standing cheerleaders from other parts of the country, do the instructing. The youngsters pay a $2 registration fee and $1.25 a night for housing, which is pro vided by the university. Meals cost extra. The young cheerleaders are shown being prepped for the new grid season.
