the Bev. John T. Bunn of Durham.
Muaic was presented by Mrs.

Ralph E. Holms, soloist Wedding

l-eove Thee. O Perfect Love, and
Ave Maria.
The church was decorated with
five floral arrangements of gladi
olas, feverfew and chrysanthe
mums. The seven candelabra*
holding white tapers were aet
against a background of palms aad
greenery.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore her sister's wed
ding gown, fashioned of antique
ivory satin. It featured an off -the
shoulder bertha of brussels lace
and long fitted sleeves tapering to
points over the hands.
The elongated bodice extended
into a softly pleated skirt terminat
ing in a .cathedral train.
Her veil, edged also with hand
appliqued brussels lace, was at
tached to a double tiara of match
ing lace frosted with seed pearls.
She carried a cascade bouquet of
bride's roses, lilies of the valley
and stephanotis.
The matron of honor was Mrs.
John J. Carpenter, sister of the
bride, and the maid of honor was
Miss Henri Karl Fisher. Both are
from Raleigh.
They wore floor length gowns of
apricot silk organza over yellow
taffeta, styled with portrait neck
lines and shirred bodices. The bell
shaped skirts were swept into
bustle effects in the back.
They wore matching tiaras of or
ganza and taffeta and carried cas
cades of bronze chrysanthemums,
yellow daisies and talisman roses
Bridesmaids were Miss Mary
Helen Barden. Miss Sally Marshall
Hayes, and Miss Virginia Ander I
son of Raleigh and Mrs. Kenneth
Putnam Jr. and Mrs. John Aliyetti
of Morehead City, twin sisters of
the bridegroom.
They also wore floor length
gowns of apricot silk organza over
yellow taffeta. Their tiaras were
of matching organza and taffeta
and their bouquets were caacattes
of brOnze chrysanthemums, yellck
daisies add talisman roses. \
Miss Cynthia Carpenter, who was i
?the flower girl, wore a dress of
white silk organza fashioned after
the bride's gown and carried a lace
basket at white rote petals.
Honorary attendants were Miss

pastel dresses and all wore white
corsages.
The bridegroom's father was his

In State Examinations
Edward Lee Smithwick Jr., son
of Mr. and Mrs. Smithwick of this
city, was one of thirty-five candi
dates for North Carolina pharmacy
licenses who passed the first part
of their state examinations at
Chapel Hill Friday. Announcement
of those passing was made by H.
C. McAllister, secretary-treasurer
of the North Carolina board of
pharmacy.
Those passing the first part of
the examination will serve one
year's internship before being giv
en the final examination.

Bohannon of El Faso, Tex., and
Jacksonville, Fla.
The marriage took place Satur
day afternoon at the Church of the
Good Shepherd in Norfolk, Va. The
Rev. Norman Slater officiated.
The wedding was attended by
members of the family and close
friends of the bride and groom.
Major Bohannon is presently as
signed as adjutant of the 3rd Air
Deefnse Artillery Group in Nor
folk. The couple left for a wedding
trip to Florida.

Given Couple on Friday
An after-rehearsal party was
given by Mr. and Mrs. John F.
Carpenter of Raleigh, honoring
Miss Sue Ellen Upchurch and J.
L. Seamon Jr., who were married
at First Baptist church Saturday
evening.
The party, held on the patio of
the Morehead Biltmore hotel Fri
day evening, included the wedding
party and out-of-town guests.
The table was covered with a
pink swiss organdy cloth, bordered
by pink chantilly lace, and was
centered with a pink horsehair pic
ture hat filled with mixed summer
flowers. The four-tiered wedding
cake, decorated in pink and white,
occupied one end of the table,
while on the other end was a cut
crystal punch bowl.
Crystal hurricane lamps flicker
ed on the table, and pink japanese
lanterns illuminated the patio.

Bridge Club Wednesday
Mrs. Elvin Oglesby entertained
her bridge club Wednesday night
at her home in Bonham Heights.
Guests were Mrs Douglas Hufham
and Mrs. Harold Ketterer.
High score prize went to Mrs.

During play the hostess served
nuts and mints. A dessert of lemon
pie and coffee was served. Mrs
