Lions to Stage 'Register To Vote 'Drive in Morehead Cooperating with mere than 11,000 Lions clubs throughout the United Stales, the Lions club of Morehead City plans a “Register to Vote” campaign which will open Saturday, Oct. 15. In announcing the drive, presi dent Cliff Edwards of the Lions club, said that this will be the greatest nationwide effort to ob tain 100 per cent voter registration in the nation’s history. “Regardless of party, the men w* elect on Nov. 8 will have the future of our nation, and its fate in a troubled world, in their hands. i r" g_ Working in their own communities, our Lions clubs will place tremen dous manpower behind this non political, non-partisan effort to see that every eligible voter in the United States is registered to vote in the Nov. 8 election." In many communities. Lions clubs also sponsor the Unique Lib erty Bells program, in which church bells in the city are rung at hourly intervals on election days to remind the voters that liberty and freedom can only be preserv ed by the use of their free ballot. Aug. 31—Miss Maggie Whitley of Raleigh is spending some time here with i relatives. Mrs. Leon Fodrie has returned home from Sea Le^el hospital. Mr. and Mrs. John French. Bridgeton, spent Sunday with his sister, Mrs. Rosa McKay. The Ladies Bible class met with Mrs. W. R. Norman Monday night with a fine attendance. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Beachem and son, Bridgeton, were the guests of her parents Sunday. Two units from the 2nd Marine Division; the 2nd Anti-tank Bat talion, and “E” Company, 2nd Bat talion, 10th Marines will set up and operate two coffee bars. One will be located at the junc tion of US 258 and NC 41, 19 miles south of Kinston and 12 miles north of Richlands. TTye other will i be located on US 17, Wrightsville Beach road, seven miles north of Wilmington. Motorists will be directed to the coffee sfands by signs saying “Free Coffee’’ and "Safety Sam,” Camp Lejeune’s ‘‘Tin Soldier” for safety.
