I’m back again with more news from busy AHS. It seems that the activities will never slow down. The seniors are presenting their play, Call Me Darling, a three-act comedy, tonight at 7:30 in the school auditorium. Admission is 35 cents and 75 cents. The char acters arc: Smitty — Mary Anna Styron; Mary Jane — Aiinis Willis; Mom Haskins—Jean Bell; Aunt Annie— Mary Jo Moon; Virginia Gregg— Becky Lewis; Pamela Payne— Linda Gaskill; Billy Haskins—Leon (Piggy) Salter; Neeley — Bobby Nelson; Pop Haskins—Danny Har vey; Mrs. J. Francis Hamilton— Jencey Mason; Lorelie Hamilton —Kay Harris; Mrs. Chalmers—Di anna Daniels. Between the second and third acts, the winner of the baby con test sponsored by the Beta club will be crowned. The proceeds will go to the Beta club scholar ship, which is given to a deserving senior going to college. We hope everyone will come. Sec you tonight? The juniors ended their maga zine sale this week.' I understand that Nancy Willis and Eva Gant got a little excited while counting the $500 their class made. Rena Salter was top salesman. She won a pink and blue poodle and a nervous monkey, both of which she is proudly showing off. Jeffrey Smith came in second and Ray Tallent third. Sandra Gaskill’s team is now busy planning a party for Eva Gant’s team, which won. Eva asks that you plan it good! The Beta club met on Sept. 26. They discussed how to raise mon ey for the Beta club scholarship. One of these ways is the baby con test. The standards for membership in the Beta club are the same as last year. A student has to get straight 90’s for two consecutive grading periods. After you become a member, you have to average 90 on all your subjects. . The officers for this year are Jean Bell—president; Nancy Wil lis —Vvice-president and program chairman; Dianna Daniels — cor responding secretary; and Kath leen Honeycutt — recording secre tary and treasurer. Tomorrow the FHA is going to the FHA rally at Goldsboro. Do you think we will make it at 6:15 a.m., girls? Miss Senior Our first Miss Senior is Izora Jean Bell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bell. Jean has short red hair and hazel eyes. She weighs 120 pounds and is 5 feet 8 inches tall. She entered this world on June 26, 1943. Jean is a mem ber of the Methodist church and MYF. Jean likes all popular songs and singers. Her favorite subject is English and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Elsie Salter. Elizabeth Tay lor and Paul Newman arc Jean’s favorites in the acting field. Her favorite food is fried shrimp and her favorite hobbies are sew ing and reading, her favorite books being Gone With the Wind and At las Shrugged. You are most likely to hear Jean say, “Do help my time!” and “De gee whiz!” Her favorite event was the basketball game on Feb. 2, 1960. Physics is Jean’s pet peeve. I wonder why? While in high school Jean has been in the Beta club, 4-H club, Monogram club, student council, French club, monitor, editor-in chief of annual staff, marshal. Jean played in both the junior and senior plays. She plays first string guard and has been playing basketball all four years. She also won the home cc award. Did I leave anything out, busy Izora? In the future Jean would like to attend Wake Forest. Good luck, Jean! Chit Chat Wonder who spent two hours in the county jail last Saturday night?
