Civil Defense Approves $41,157 for Beaufort The State Civil Defense organi zation has approved $41,157.20 for the town of Beaufort in emergency hurricane relief funds. Ronald Earl Mason, who went to Raleigh last week to meet with Civil Defense officials, said that the amount now must be approved by the federal government. He says it is assumed that state ap proval means federal OK as well. There were so many purple and white outfits and bows, displays of spirit and pride, and friendliness! Can’t we continue demonstrating school spirit, pride and friendli ness on “ordinary” days? We were honored on Friday morning, Dec. 2, to have the Rev. Gordon Sebastian to speak to us in chapel. On Dec. 9, the Rev. Bobby Jackson, who is the speaker at the revival services at the Stacy Free Will Baptist church, was our guest speaker. Friday night, Dec. 9, we played basketball at Smyrna. It is re gretfully reported that we lost both games. Some Atlantic fans who traveled to Smyrna to see the games enjoyed the “fashion show” featuring the SHS boys’ team in their new coats and the group sing ing of their school song. The sophomore girls are busy sewing their wool skirts and tops. With the joy of assembling a gar ment come the interesting, funny, and sad problems. Who hasn’t had trouble in matching plaids, putting in zippers, fitting and “dry clean ing”? Miss Senior Mr. and Mrs. Allen Jones’ only child, Florence Mae Jones, repre sents AHS this week.
