The following: from Tuesday’s Charlotte Chronicle will be of interest to many Eagle readers: Within the ne.xt few months, probably in June, tlie congres sional convention for the Ninth district, to-nominate \ successor interest | to Hon. E. Y. Webb, will be held in some city that will later be selected within the district ,by the executive committee, of which Mr. E. S. Williams, of this cUy, is chairman. While there have not yet ap peared in the field any avowed candidates on the Democratic ticket to oppose Congressman Webb for renojnination, it is ru mored abroad that there will like ly be aspirants for the cougres- sionai berth from this district, and the names of one or two Charlotte nien are being mention ed in this connection. The executive committee will name the datB'^or the convention whenever the Chairman, Mr. Williams, deems it proper to call that body together, and Char lotte will probablj' be a bidder for the convention-, though by no means a certain bidder since there will be other towns.in the race to procure this convention. The question of i Congress man from the Ninth district is being quite freely discussed ia local political circles even at this early date, and within the next 60 days some further develop ments interest in this matter are antitifiatelb..- It is reported that among those who mry be in the race at the itioii to he held this .Sprin, will say rater^ '• rcounty, [tie of the [Western of the I county, vith apple ‘.t oy A ve aliout of theni m one to to make believe that f.ern North dapted to anythit’.!
