I donated the public square
1 in Burnsville, possibly the
i most beautiful public
* square in any county seat
in North Carolina, and for
i whom the public square is
pfficially named.
Mr. Bailey was an out
standing citizen, an honor
able and capable lawyer.
He was an outstanding
Baptist leader in Yancey
County. For many years he
was teacher of the Men’s
Bible class in Burnsville
and while teacher of that
class he did very unusual
work in building up the
class to a larger member
ship than it had ever had
before. He was a loyal
“church worker in all of its
activities.
He received his license to
practice law in 1913 and
since that date was a well
recognized lawyer of the
i State. *
In the year 1920 he wa.
' elected Solicitor of the 18th
Judicial District and during
his term of office he per
formed the duties thereof
without partiality and with
ability. He was respected by
the Bar throughout the
18th Judicial District.
