BANKS - FARROW (Leaksville.) —In a home wedding Miss Mildred Lee Banks became the bride of Henry Brown Farrow Thu rsday morning, July 11, at 9 o'clock at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lee Banks. The vows were spoken before the Rev. Robert C. Foster, pastor of the First Baptist church. The couple entered unattended and took their places before an improvis ed altar of palms inter spersed with Easter lilies and white gladiolus, and flanked on either side with seven branch floor candel abra holding cathedral candles. —sMiss Aldine Pleasant, of Burnsville, aunt of the bride, played the “Wedding March’’ from Lohengrin (Wagner) as the proces sional and Mendelssohn’s Wedding March as a reces sional. She also played “Traumerei” (Schumann) and “To a Wild Rose” (MaeDowell) during the ceremony. Mrs. Ronald Hirst accompanied by Mrs. Horace Latham sang “Be loved It Is Morn” (Floren ce A1 ward), Claude and James Banks, brothers of the bride light ed the tall cathedral cand les. Norval Banks of Balti more, cousin of the bride, served as usher./ Jean Rawlings, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Rawlings carried the ring in a lily. She wore a floor-length pink organdy dress and hatAo match. The bride wore a dawn blue street length dress of chiffon made very simply with short puffed sleeves entirely of tiny self ma terial ruffles. Her accesso ries were all white and her corsage of gardenias. Her oply enrolment was an antique locket, a family heirloom. The bride’s mother wore a navy sheer with a touch of* white at the neckline and navy accessories with a corsage of pink briar cliff roses. Mrs. Farrow is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Banks. She is a graduate of Leaksville High school and attended Maryville College. Mr. Farrow is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brown Far row, of Winston-Salem, and is connected with the Leaksville Publishing Com pany. . - The bride and groom left immediately after the ce remony to points in Vir ginia. THE BANK SWALLOW The Bank Swallow, the smallest of the Swallow family, is widely distribut ed both in Europe and Am erica. It ranges over most of Eastern America and is common in Western North Carolina. It is five or five and a half inches long; the upper parts are brownish gray; the lower parts are white with the exception of a brownish gray band across the breast; the throat is white; there is a small tuft of feathers above the hind toe. This Swallow usually ex cavates horizontally a hole in a bank to a depth of two or three feet in which it builds its nest. It lays from four to six pure white eggs. Sometimes as many as a hundred or more are .close together. Its food is composed altogether of insects, which it with wide spread mouth catches on the wing. Its song is a mere twitter.
