At present Mr. and Mrs. Belgard are residing i n j Burnsville. VINSONS PURCHASE HOME HERE Mr. and Mrs. P. LoVin son of Sebring, Fla. who are now stopping for a few weeks at the Nu-Wray ! Hotel, have purchased a house on Orchard Drive from Miss Aldine Pleasant. The group consisted of Miss Anastasia Tomberlin, Mrs. Velcy Phillips Hjort of California, Miss Era Hughes, Miss Broma Phil lips of Aseville, Miss Beryl Wilson, Burl Maney, Em mett Bams, and Harmon Angel. The class originally had seventeen members, four of whom are now married, Miss Velcy Phillips, Miss Ruth Rathburn,- Miss Alice Tipton and Miss Lorena Belle Hilemon; two nur ses, Miss Mildred Yelton of Banner Elk and Miss Broma Phillips of Ashe ville; Miss Era Hughes went to Cecil’s Business College, Miss Beryl Wilson is attending Berea College at Berea, Ky., and Miss Madge Ferguson attended College at Boone and Ashe ville Normal; Quinton Towe, Harmon Angel, Ward Smith, Ralph Hol combe, who is a salesman in Tennessee now; Max Yelton who is in the Navy, and Burl Maney, Emmett Sams and Wayne (Buster) ! Hensley visited their sister, Mrs. Gertrude Bennett of Asheville last Sunday. VIXEN ITEMS V Some of the children were badly disappointed in not getting off ’to school Monday. Quite a few men are working near Parker’s home on the State High way. Services were conducted here Sunday as usual by Rev. B. T. Nanney and Rev. George K. Neff. A large number of Vix en attended the Pensa cola association. Mrs. Mandy Calloway and Mrs. Melissa Parker visited Mrs. Belle McMa han who is very sick a t this time. Francis Riddle of Bolens Greek was the guest of Ila Marie Riddle Saturday night. Mrs. Zillah Hensley re turned to California this week. Craig Styles of Pennsyl vania spent Wednesday night with Brittian Mc- Mahan. Edward Lane returned to Washington a few days ago. Little Miss Betty Perida Parker is spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Grady Hensley. The Women and girls are all very busy canning, picking huckle berries, making jellies, jams and kraut. Mr. Douglas Powell’s father and mother from New Jersey are visiting hem for some time. Plans have been made for ] a big fair,„andr injuch inter est is being manifested among the farmers of the cpunty. Make your plans now to take an active part in this.event as it is to our mutual interest. The schools of the coun ty opened Wednesday with a record breaking number in enrollment. The Burns ville high school students are now working in their beautiful new high school building. May we ask that all citizens of the town and county cooperate through out the school year with the school authorities for a successful term. Different shows will be given at afternoon and night performances. TEACHERS OF COUNTY MEET, ELECT OFFIC ERS The teachers of the cou nty met on last Thursday morning at Burnsville High school. Officers ele cted for the group were Charles Hubbard, presi dent; Guss Peterson, vice president, and Mrs. Hubert Justice, secretary and tre asurer. Mrs. Langston of the Goldsboro school, field secretary of the classroom teacher was guest speaker. Miss Mae Hunter has returned to her home af ter spending two weeks at the World’s Fair in New York, Miss Hunter join ed her sister, Mrs. Thomp son, and other friends in Cleveland, Ohio and they accompanied her on the trip. ANNUAL THOMAS REUNION The annual Thomas Family Reunion will be held at the Double Island church on the second Sat urday in September <Sept. 14). Everyone is invited to attend and bring a bas ket lunch.
