No formal reception 1 is planned for the occasion, ? but they will be at home rto their friends between the hours of 4:00 to 8:00 Saturday afternoon. Bth. ’ The marriage took place on August 7. 1892 in Bur nsvillev Mr* and Mrs. Horton are . life long residents of Bur nsville and have taken pri-l de in the development of , the town. Both belong to > prominent pioneer famil ies of this section, and Mrs. Hoiton was formerly Miss Rova Celia Byrd. Mrs. Horton has always shown an especial interest in t{le affairs of the com munity and has won many friends by her thoughtful ness and kindness. Her es pecial hobby is growing flowers and in this she has always been most happily successful. Mr. Horton’s hobby* 1 is checker playing and he is recognized as one of the county champions. The Hortons had five children. Their oldest son, Earl Leon Horton, was kil led, in France in World War I. He was the first soldier from the county # to lose his life in action, and the local . Legion post is named in his honor. The four children now living are Roy D. Horton, Bryan Horton and Mrs. J. W. King, all of Alexandria, Va., and Mrs. Annie Marsh of Charlotte. They have nine living grandchildren and one great granddaugh ter. One grandson, Leroy D. Horton, died in 1935. Friends of the family are invited to call on Sat urday afternoon when the couple will hold open ho use. Their daughters, Mrs. King and Mi's. Marsh,” will assist in receiving the gu ests. David E.‘ Anderson of St. Paul, Minn, is con ducting a series of sermons this week at the Cane River Baptist church. His sermon Saturday night will be dedi cated to the boys in service. An interesting list of* ser mons has been announced for each night. . Rev. Eulas Adkins has re signed his position as pastor of the church here. Miss Jessie Roland of Baltimore, Md. spent last week end with her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs* J. G. Hensley. Cecil Styles is ill at his home of typhoid fever.
