In May 1875, he was married to Misg Mollie Dover who died several years ago. Surviving are five sons, E. R. Gillespie of Middle town, Conn., A. D. and A. J. Gillespie of Micaville, W. C. of Burnsville and C. D of Prices Creek; three daughters, Mrs. R. E. And-i er.-on of Asheville, Mrs.! j Everett Honeycutt of Alex-j lander and Mrs. George Hall, of Burnsville; one brother,j John W Gillespie of Leices ter, who is now 82 years of age. Williams, spotting a German sub while piloting a Navy Torpedo Bomber in the Atlantic, attacked the enemy without supporting fighter planes.
