C., offi ciated using the double ring ceremony. Only members of the family and close! friends of the bridal couple attended. The bride wore pale blue with white accessories. Her corsage was white rose buds with baby’s breath. The bridesmaids, Elise Garland and Cathryn Tay lor, w'ore white with corsa ges of pink rosebuds. William Finter of Wash ington, D. C., was best man. A reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert, the groom’s par ents, immediately following the ceremony. The couple will make their home in Washington, D. Miss Lena Phillips, for merly of this place is visit ing her brother, Pvt. M. L. Phillips who was wounded in Europe and is now in Georgia in the hospital. Edalean Tipton of Hunt dale has been visiting Opal and Cleo Whitson. Pvt. John Peterson is home for thirty days. He wag wounded while crossing the Rhine, and is now in the hospital in Georgia. Mrs. W. B. Peterson has been ill but is recovering nicely. JACKS CREEK Mr. and Mrs. Bascomb Silvers and daughter of Marion recently visited Mrs. Silvers’ mother. Mrs. Ruet ta McCourry of Day Book. Mrs. Floyd Honeycutt and sons left last week to join Mr. Honeycutt who was re cently recalled to the'army affcef residing here for the past year. Presbyterian Church The closing program of the Summer Bible school at Low Gap will be held Fri day night at 8:15. Sunday the Burnsville S. S. will meet at 10 : 15, preach ing service at 11. Next Sunday services will be held at ..Mine Fork at 2 p. m., at Denlinger Memor ial at 3:CO, and at Low Gap ]at 8:15. Rev. Albert G. Kountz will preach at Higgins at 11 a. nt. and at Upper Jacks Creek at 3 p. m. The Bible school at Hig gins will continue through the coming week, closing on Friday, July 6, with an 8 o’clock program.
