Health Department News - i The District Health De partment announces that Dr. E. T. Koonee, dentist for the State Board of Health, will begin the den tal program in Yancey county on August 5, 1946. This is one week before schools open ’ < August 121. It has been decided that Dr.j Koonee* will spend the first' week in Burnsville school. | The Health Department 1 ; and the Supt. of county |i schools request that the children who will attend 1 Burnsville grade . school will come to the school house on Monday morning August 5, in order to make an appointment with Dr. Koonee for work to be done during the week. It is ask ed that the- children do not stay away on the first- day, thinking others will come and crowd the schedule.; All should come in order, that Dr. Koonee will be able to make a schedule for the entire week, giving the day and hour for the child- 1 ren to return. , Dr. Koonee spent some \ time in the Burnsville ; school last year, and of * course will be unable to work in all the schools. For that reason, most of his time will be spent in other schools of the county. Mitchell county has not yet entered the dental program, but is expected to do so before August 1. Dr. Koonee completes the work for children whose parents are unable to pay for such work. He usually cleans the teeth of all child ren and advises them what work is needed, and of the necessity* of regular visits to private dentists. If you are able to pay your private dentist, do *not hesitate to! send your children to the Burnsville clinic, because although he will not com plete their w r ork, he will re fer them to their “private! dentist. Frequently, cavities de velop that you are unable to discover yourself. Dr. Koonee will make these ex aminations and advise just what work needs to be done.
