R. Ham rick. GRAHAM-SAMS . \ Miss Violet Graham, dau-' ghter of Mr. and Mrs. D. W | Graham of Todd, was mar-! ried to Emmett S: Sams,! son of Mrs. Fuller Sams and; the late Mr. Sams of Bur-' nsville and Mars Hill, in the Methodist church of Boone on July 21. The Rev. H. O. Huss per formed the ceremony. The church was decorated with! evergreens, ferns, baskets 'of white gladioli and can delabra with lighted tapers. A program of wedding music was presented by Miss Pauline Sprinkle of Charlotte 1 , soloist, accom panied by Mrs. Fred Sprin kle of Asheville, aunts of the bridegroom. Mrs. Sprinkle played “To A Wild Rose” and “Ave| Maria” before the vows! were spoken. Love tunes were played softly during! the ceremony and the tra ditional wedding marchts were used. Miss Sprinkle sang “Oh, Promise Me l ” and “At Dawning” before the pi „ ssional and “The Lord’s Prayer” at the close of the ceremony. The bride was given in | marriage by her father. [She wore a gown of white slipper satin. Her" 3 veil of ! illusion was caught wiith | clusters of white tube roses and her bouquet was of ! white roses with an orchid center. Miss Jewel Graham, sis ter of the bride, was maid of honor, and Miss Ila Gra ham, sister of the bride and Miss Wanda Sams, sister of j the groom, were brides-; maids. The maid of honor wore! a dress of ice blue marqui-j sette over taffeta with a! headdress and bouquet of pink roses. The brides-; maids wore dresses of pink marquisette over .taffeta 1 and carried nosegays of - flowers. T. F. Sams of Burnsville was best man, and. the ush-' ers were James Graham and L. D. Graham of Todd,j David Anderson of Mars Hill and Gail Bridges ofj Shelby. Johnnie Anderson of Mars Hill was ringer bearer and flower girls were Olga Sprinkle and Pa tricia Robinson. After the ceremony a re ception was held at the < THE YANCEY RECORD TEA SHOWER HONORS MISS PLEASANT Miss Aldine Pleasant was| honor guest at a tea show-! er given by the women of the Methodist church on Thursday afternoon at the; home of Mrs. Troy Ray. The home was beautifully decorated with summer flowers. Mrs. Troy Ray and, Mrs. Hobart Ray greeted! the guests, and Mrs, W. W.! Sorrells presided at the punch bow r l. The table was centered with an arrange ment of yellow nasturtiums on a reflector, and this mo tif was used in the refresh ments and favors. Approximately 40 guests attended the affair, with Mrs. H. M. Roland of Wil j mington as an out of town ! guest. I Miss Pleasant has been a ,very activt member of the church and has been closely j associated with the church organizations, She plans to leave soon to make her home at Biltmore. Vinson who are spending the sum mer months in this section were l in Burnsville to visit friends on Tuesday. Katherine Lawhern was home for the week end from Biltmore . hospital where she is employed. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mur phy and daughter of Mary ville visited Mrs. Murphy’s mother, Mrs. J. R. Evans over the w r eek end. Ruth Evans accompanied them home. \ , home of Mr. and Mrs. Hart pog in Boone. The table was covered with a lace cloth and a three tiered wedding cake surrounded by mixed flowers was plac td in the center. The; couple left later and following a wedding trip through the Smokies are home in Mars Hill. The bride is a graduate of Elkland high school and Appalachian State Teach ers college. For the past •three years she has taught l in Mars Hill high school. | Mr. Sams was graduated! from Mars Hill college and from Western Carolina Teachers college. He is now teaching in Mars Hill high school. . Out of town guests for the wedding included ap proximately a hundred fri ends and relatives from Mars Hill, Burnsville l , Ashe ville, Marshall, Bald Creek, Swiss, Micaville, Shelby, Charlotte and Blowing Rock Bill Stanback of Salis bury will be the guest this week end of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Baden and Mr. andi Mrs. J. Threadgill of! Pensacola. Mr. Stanback and Mr. Baden were room mates at Carolina.
