Burns and scalds account for more than a fourth of the mishaps, with steam and hot liquids the most frequent. Miss Edwards ! said that carelessness is the j cause of burns more often than poor kiteheri equip ment. Children as well as house wives are among the chief sufferers from kitchen scalds and burns. Safety advisers agree that the kit chen is not a safe place for young children to play un less a far corner, away from the stove, is fenced off for them. Hazards causing falls in kitchens account for about; one out of every ten falls that cause death or injury Miss Edwards said. She ur ges families on the FSA program to prevent causes such as highly polished linoleum, or floors made slippery by spilled grease, water or fruit peeling*. Presbyterian News Worship services on Sun day, August 11, will be held at Banks Creek at 11 o’clock and at Higgins at 8 o’clock. Rev. Robert B. Sanford who is taking the work of Rev. Albert H. Mutschler, will preach. Sunday School will be held at 10 o’clock in all the churches except Upper Jacks Creek, which will be at 2 o’clock. There will be no preaching service at Up per Jacks Creek this Sun day, but there will be a ser vice there on August 18, at 2 o’clock. BAPTIST CHURCH The annual associational meeting will be held at the Byrd’s Chapel church on August 30, 31.
