Shepherd and family of Bald Creek and other rela tives. YELTON-COMNIN AKI Miss Mildred Yelton, dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Yelton of Cane River, and Siverin P. Comninaki, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Comni naki of Norfolk, Va., were married at the home of the bride’s parents on Tuesday morning, July 23. The Rev. E. W. Wilson, pastor of the Presbyterian; church, performed the cere-! mony before an improvised altar of evergreens and white gladiolus. Mrs. E. W. Wilson, pian ist, played the traditional wedding marches and “To a Wild Rose” during the cere mony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a street length dress of white lace and waffle pique and her accessories were white. Her corsage was a l üby throated orchid. Miss Louise Yelton, sister of the bride, was the only attendant. She wore a char- 1 treuse dress with black ac-j cessories and a corsage of white gladiolus. E. Comni naki, father of the bride groom, was best man. * Immediately following the ceremony, an informal reception was held. The' table was covered with a' lace cloth and centered with 1 the wedding cake.— The couple left for”a wedding trip in the moun tains. For travel the bride wore a biege suit with brown accessories and her orchid corsage. Mrs. Comninaki is a grad uate of Bald Creek high school and received train ing as a nurse at Banner Elk hospital. She served as a lieutenant in the army nurse corps during World War 11. Mr. Comninaki also served during the war and is now a captain in the army reserve corps. The couple will reside at Virginia Beach, Va. Engagement Announced Mr. and Mrs. *N. B. Elliott of Burnsville and Asheville have announced the enga gement of their daughter, Miss Mary Ellen Elliott, to Richard Norman Whitson, son of Dr. and Mrs. W. K. Whitson o f Kenilworth. The wedding will take place in September. THE YANCEY RECORD BOONE-TOWE Miss Mary Lillian Boone, daughter of Daniel Boone of Burnsville and J. B. Towe, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bud Towe, were married Tuesday evening, August 6 at 7 o’clock. The ceremony was performed at the home of Dr. 0. E. Croy,' pastor of the Higgins Mem ; orial Methodist church, with !Dr. Croy officiating. The bride wore a dress of rose crepe with navy and white accessories and 'a corsage of lilies. Mrs. Towe is a graduate of Burnsville high school. Mr. 'Towe attended Bald Creek high school and was in service 3 years and 9 months. AH’of this time, ex cept his basic training per iod, was spent in the Pacific area. He was discharged last November and is now one. of the operators of Towe-Holcombej Service Station and Garage in west 1 Burnsville. | Mr. and Mrs. Towe will reside in Burnsville. TEA WILL HONOR MRS. H. M. ALLEY , A tea honoring Mrs. H. M. Alley will be given at the Baptist church on Fri day afternoon from 3 to 5. All ladies of the church are invited to attend.— BIRTHDAY PARTY Mrs. C. V. Belgarde gave a party Saturday after noon for her young son, Van, who celebrated his sth birthday. The young guests played games on the lawn and later in the afternoon Mrs. Belgarde, assisted by her mother, Mrs. L. E. Briggs, served refreshments. Fifty three guests attended the affair. Celebrates Birthday Catherine Madge Young, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Young of Win dom, celebrated her fourth birthday Monday with a few of her friends. Games were played after which Madge opened her packages Lemonade and cookies were served by Mrs. Young.
