Mrs. Brown is the former Miss Marie Elliott of Burnsville and is secretary to the Acting in spector General of Keesler Field. Mr. Brown is an In structor in the AM Schools at Keesler Field. Patricia Piercv spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. A- Piercy of Day Book. She is attend ing Greensboro Senior High School in Greensboro. BALD CREEK NEWS Preaching appointments for the new Conference year on the Bald Creek Methodist circuit will be as follows: First Sunday, Bald Creek 11 am., Elk Shoals at 3 p. m, and Pensacola at 7 p. m.; second Sunday, Borings Chapel at 11 a. m., Bald Creek at 7 p. m; third Sun day, Elk Shoals at 10 a. m., Bald Creek at 11 am., Bor-! : ing Chapel at 3p. m.; fourth Sunday, Pensacola at 11 a. m., and Balci Creek at 7 p. m. There will be no preach ing appointments on fifth Sundays, except for special services, which will be duly announced, if and when they may be scheduled. Members of the Spruce Pine Woman’s; club were special guests. Mrs. Fred Proffitt gave 1 a report on the district! meeting held in Brevard recently. Another report was made concerning the Silver Tea to be held at the Nu-Wray Hotel, Thursday, Oct. 24th from 4 to 6 p. m. The proceeds will go to the Symphony Orchestra Fund. Mrs. Troy Ray made a trea surer’s report and Mrs. Hobart Ray a program com mittee’s report. Mrs. C. V. Belgarde, pre sident, presided at the meet ing and introduced the speaker, Mrs. M. G. Pangle of Brevard. Mrs. Pangle is i president of district No. 2. | She spoke on “Federated Clubs” and discussed brief ly the rating sheet of the club for this year. Encour agement was given to the club to raise this rating! sheet this season. Approximately 35 guests! and members attended. i - SILVER TEA A Silver Tea, sponsored Jby the Woman’s Club to! aid in the drive for funds for the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra i n Yancey county, will be held on Thursday afternoon, October 24th, at the Nu- Wray Hotel, from 4 to 6 o’clock. A general invita tion is extended to all citi zens of the town and coun ty to attend. This is a worthy cause, and it is hoped that the donations this year will be as gener ous as of last, so that we may enjoy the program of music, education, and cul ture, offered by our State Orchestra.
