Funeral Services Fyneral services will, be held‘at the Burnsville Bap tist church Thursday after noon at 2 o’clock. The Rev. . Ben J. Mclver, pastor of the church, and the Rev. B. S. Hensley, pastor of the Syl ya Baptist church, will offi ciate and interment will, be in the Burnsville cemetery/ Active pall bearers will be I. F. McCourry, John Wilson, Horace Edge, W. M. English, W. Z. Robertson and H-. C. Wheeler Friends throughout Wes tern'North Carolina and Tennessee will serve as honorary pall bearers. The body will be brought here Wednesday and will lie in state at Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home un the hour of the fune’ral Surviving are two daugh ters, Mrs. McEwen, and Mrs. John B. Clouse of Stocksville: four sons, Levi, Jr., and Alvin of Johnson City, Troy and Jake of Burnsville; 33 grand child ren; 30 great grand child— j ren, 8 great-great grand | children, and 5 great-great ! great grandchildren. Mr. Buckner was a native |of the Swiss section of Yancey County where he ; was born on August 17,1844 When he was a small boy the family moved to Madf json county, where they set tled in what is now the Lit tle Ivy section of the coun ty. His father cut„the first timber cut from that sec tion and planted the first crops in that soil. Mr. Buckner enlisted at the age of 16 in the War between the States and served for more than .two years., was married 3 times and was the father of 13 children. <-At the age of 15 he 'joined the Baptist chur ch and remained a, faithful 'memher till his passing. . “Uncle Levi” never shav ed, never drank intoxicat ing beverages and never used tobacco in any form. He attributed his longevity to not using alcohol and to bacco and not worrying about things he could not change. He had remained remark ably well for hia advanced years, and Joined heartily in his birthday celebration last August when hundreds of friends and relatives joined in tribute to Him. Mrs. W. B. Wray, Mrs. G. L. Hensley, Mrs, John Ben nett and Rush T. Wray vis ited relatives, at York, S. C. during the holidays.
