Smith gave a very interesting and infor mative talk on ■ “Every Home a Basic Training ; Center of Good Citizen , ship. ” Mrs. Vernie Wilson gave i a discussion of an article on “Russia”, taken from • the December issue of the <;lub woman’s magazine. The Yancey county meeting will be held in the Burnsville Baptist church. A Missionary Leadership 1 conference will be held at J the Mt. Pleasant church on Jan. 18. The meeting will open at 10:30, and several of the divisional W. M. U. officers will attend. Rev. B. Jj Mclver will bring the inspirational message at the afternoon session. The regular monthly monthly Youth meeting will be held at the West Burns ville church Saturday night, January 18 at 7:00 o’clock. Rev. P. L. McMahan will be the guest speaker. L. G. Deyton gave a report on the work of the welfare committee during the mon th of December. Mrs. Wood Butner was a guest-for the evening. Parties* will be held next week for each 4-H club. Each member is asked to bring a chicken "to the •meet ings; these will be sold and the proceeds will go to the camp cabin fund. The following schedule has been arranged: Monday, Jan. 20: Mica ville at 10:45; Celo at 1:00; Harvard at 2:00. Tuesday, Jan. 21: Glear mont Junior and Senior clubs at 2:00. Bob Tipton is at home again after spending sever al days in Florida. Mrs, Tensie Wilson is still convalescing from injuries received in a car wreck while en route to the Bee Log school. X-rays revealed a slight hip fracture. Mrs. Elizabeth Buchanan, driver of the car, Mrs. Bill Austin and others received only bruises and minor injuries. The car left the road and plunged down an embank ment, striking a tree, when the steering mechanism was affected by failure of some part of the apparatus to function. Mrs.A. F. Hensley contin ues to improve after a siege of sinusitis.
