Kiffen Hennessee and young son return ed from North Wilkesboro after spending several weeks there. ' Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Moody announce the arrival of a son, Joseph Lonnie, on Jan. 23 at the Mission hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Rob erts announce the arrival of a daughter at the, Bilt more hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Carmon McMahan of Hillsboro have announced the arrival of twin sons on Jan. 22. Ernest Briggs left Tues day for Florida where he will spend several days. Mrs. Dawson Briggs has been visiting for, the past few days irv Greensboro where her daughter, Eve lyn, is a student at Wom an’s College of the Univer sity, James W. Ray is in the Mission hospital where he ; underwent an operation on Monday. The condition of Delzie R. Styles remains about the same. He is in the States ville hospital for treatment. Dr. C. Mr Whisnant has returned to his-office fol lowing an illness of several days. B. R. Penland is out again after being confined to his home because of an attack of flu. ★ $ ! Tuesday, Feb. 4 ; The Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church will meet at the home of Mi's. D. R. Fonts at 3 o’clock. The Circles of the Bap tist Missionary Society will meet. The American Legion Post will have a special meeting at 7:30. All service men are invited to at tend. The wedding is planned for the early spring. Wilson-Caldwell Announcement has been made of the engagement of Miss Ruth Wilson, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Wilson, of Bald Creek, to Harold Caldwell, son of Mrs Margaret Caldwell of Moor esville. The wedding will take place at the Brevard Meth odist church Friday, Febru ary 7, with the Rev. W. G. McFarland, pastor, officia ting. Miss Wilson is instructor of physical education for girls at Brevard college. She was graduated from Brevard college, receiving her degree in physical edu i cation from Berea college, and has been teaching at Brevard since 19441. Mr. Caldwell served in the navy during World Wai II and entered Brevarcl col lege last summer. He 1$ ac tive in the work of the Vet’s club on the campus. GARDEN CLUB Members of / the Garden ; Club entertained their hus bands at a buffet supper given Friday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs.-Troy Ray. -Following supper, an in teresting film of various events and places over the county was shown by V. COMMUNITY MOVIE AT HIGGINS Beginning Satu rd ay night, February 8 at the Higgins community build ing (the Markle Building*, a series of community movie programs will be pre sented. These programs will be shown every two weeks on. Saturday night. —These programs will be sponsored by the Presby terian church. The films shown will be of both an educational and an enter tainment nature. There will be an animated cartoon or comedy each time; Some films will be obtained from the U. S. Departmeiit of Agriculture, the State Hea lth Service, various church es and religious -agencies, and other sources. It is hoped that a few good en tertainment features can be ’presented from time to time. It will be necessary to charge an admission of 10c for children of 15 years and younger and 20c for those 16 years and older. How ever, an entire family will be admitted for 50c. "The admission money will go to cover postage and rental ,on the films. The shows will be on a non-profit basis.
