Mr. Wray who has resided in Arizona for a number of years, has a very successful importing business there, importing Mexican pottery, glass and novelties. Mrs. Victor Caldwell of Concord visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Huskins during the week end. Mrs. Belle Erwin who? is visiting Rev. and Mrs. Jesse Blalock in Shelby, fell la'st week and broke her arm. Sgt. Luther Ray is home' on short leave from Fort Totten, N. Y. where he is stationed. Taylor! officiated, using the single [ring ceremony. ,j The bride wore a royal l blue suit with royal blue i and pink accessories and aj purple orchid corsage. Her only ornament was an onyx ■ brooch which had belonged to her great grandmother. Following the "ceremony, the couple left by motor for. a trip through Texas and i northern Mexico. > Mrs. Briggs received her education- at Bald Creek’ • high school, Weaker college* and is a graduate of the | Asheville Mission hospital . school of nursing. She re-j ceived herß. S. degree in public health from George Peabody college, Nashville, 1 Tenn. and did post gradu-j ate work in public health' at the University of Penn sylvania. From 1940 to 1946 she was employed by the Rockefeller Foundation in! Durham and the University of North Carolina. For the past year and a half she has been in the office here with her father. Mr. Briggs is a graduate jof Burnsville high school and of the law school of the University of North Caro lina. He has been engaged since in the practice of his profession in Burnsville. After January 1 Mr. and! Mrs. Briggs will be at home in Burnsville. Rushing parties have | been in order for the Sor ority for the past five weeks, and the girls were entertained at several teas held at the University by members of Beta Sigma Phi Miss Allen was accepted via honorary recommenda tions from the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in Ashe ville, N. C. Celebrates Birthday Mrs. Bill Smith honored her daughter, Zula- ~Kate Smith, with a birthday din ner Saturday evening, Dec. 6, celebrating her 17th birthday. The table was centered with a pink and white cake bearing 17 lighted candles. The guests were: June Smith, Bobby Ruth Banks, Donald Westall, David Pet erson and James Johnson. Frank E.
