Mr. Clarke also pointed ;out that the new poultry (department of the federa tion is now in operation with facilities to kill and | dress more than 600 chick ens per hour, most of the work being automatic. . Roberts, educa tional director of the feder ation, next extended an in vitation for all those pre-, sent to attend the general meeting in Asheville on March 27. He announced that a tour will be conduct ed on that day for all mem bers to see the various fed eration activities in and about Asheville. Lunch will be served. Mack Ray, supervisor of the FHA for Yancey coun-l ty, was introduced and spoke briefly. Mr. Ray said that “we have gone-throu gh four or five “do” years, 1 and are now beginning a period of “don’t” years. In the past, he pointed out, . we were able to plant al i most anything with the i knowledge that it would l sell. Now, however, it is , better not to depend on j just, one crop or item for | an income. “Let’s not put all | our eggs in one basket,” he said. | Ewart M. Ball, editor of the Farmers Federation News was introduced and spoke briefly. Next on the program was Mrs. C. E. Dameron, public relations director for the federation.
