Burnsville High School The Senior Class of Bur nsville High School held day exercises Friday morning in the school audi-’ torium with the class pre sident, Mary Ellen Banks,! presiding. The history of the grad uating class was given by Elizabeth Ramsey Silver, class historian; the superla tives by Benolene Silver; and the prophecy by Ruth Banks. Mary Ellen Banks read the class poem and Mary Evelyn Hensley sang the class song. After the last will and testament was read b y Ruth Lewis, Mr. Tomberlin 1 I made the following awards: Co-V aledictorians, Clara Dee Banner, Peggy Par i rish Salutatorian, Mary Ellen Banks; president of Student Council, Ruth B:>iiks; Citizenship award, Ma r y Evelyn Hensley; Capt. Charles Hutchins award, Mary Lou Sorrells. The Woman’s Club aw arded a “best speakers” medal to Peggy Parrish. BURNSVILLE EAGLES • ’• «r-* The Burnsville Eagles ! played three games last week, winning one and losing two. The Eagles defeated the Mars Hill Grays by the score of 19-3. The Spinciale Sluggers j ,won over the Eagles 6-3 in ! 1 a game played Saturday j night at Spindale. He spent two years in the Army in World War I. and has been active in American Legion circles. He is acquainted with the problems of the veterans and nas been their sincere friend. Solicitor Ridings, if elected will go to Congress fresh from the people. Born on a farm, educated in the common schools, practicing law since 1922, serving as solicitor of the Eighteen th Judicial District since 1934. serving as a private in World War 1, being a Mason and member of the American Legion, and last but not least, being a known friend of the common man, gives him a close touch with the people that should he | common to every Congressman.
