Blue Cross Enlistment Campaign Will Begin With the intensive en rollment campaign for Blue Cross in fifteen Western North Carolina counties only two weeks away, members of the special Citizen Committee, made up of health, hospital and lay leaders from the fif teen counties, today urged the support of business leaders in the enrollment drive in their counties. “Every citizen in every county is a potential hospi tal patient,” stated Francis Heazel, Asheville, Buncom be County Chairman, “If everyone is to be free of worry concerning unexpec ted hospital bills and if we are to keep our hospitals on a sound financial foot ing, everyone needs Blue Cross protection. There are two North Carolina Plans approved by Blue Cross, The Hospi tal Care Association of Durham, and the Hospital Saving Association of Cha pel Hill. Both will partici pate in the Western North Carolina Blue Cross Cam paign. , Blue Cross will offer both group and individual mem berships during the Wes tern Nortn Carolina drive. Persons who work where there are five or more em ployees can apply for group membership. Fewer than live may apply for indivi dual membership. Plans, specifications, and other contract documents may be obtained by prime contractors up on deposit of $30.00 in cash or check, for General Contract; $30.00 in cash or check for Elec, trical Contract. The full deposit I will be returned to contractors submitting bona fide proposals, provided plans and specifications are returned to the Architect in good condition within ten days after the date set for receiving of bids. Subcontractor’s deposits will be refunded less cost of 1 printing and handling. All Contractors are hereby governing their respective trades. Each proposal shall be accom panied by a cash deposit, or by a certified cheek drawn on and cer tified by some bank or trust com pany insured by the Federal De posit Insurance Corporation, in an amount equal to not less than. 6% of the proposal; or in lieu thereof a bidder may offer a Certified Cheek of 2% of the bid plus a bid bond of 3% of the bid; said depos it to be retained by the Owner as liquidated damages in event of failure of the successful bidder to execute the contract within ten days after the award, or to give satisfactory surety as required by law. (Public Laws 1933, Section 1, Chapter 400, General Statutes of North Carolina, 1943, C 143 Art. 8 5.129) Performance Bond will be re quired in amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. Payment will be made on the basis of ninety percent (90%) of monthly estimates and final pay ment made upon completion and acceptance of the work. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of thirty days. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
