To morrow the Woman’s Club picnic at 6:30 so that mem bers can go to Playhouse for the second performan ce, and two ball games here this week end . . . Formal opening of the Mt. Mitchell Motel Sunday. It’s lovely! Now we won’t have to leave Burnsville to take a vaca tion. Just go down to Motel (if you can get there ahead of the visitors) and have a quiet, restful stay . . . Over Monday to see P rank Stan ley Herring’s portrait de monstration and it still , looks like magic! He takes plain canvas and in two hours has a lovely portrait. A wonderful experience, just watching ... Dr. Rob ertson able to be up and about but Mrs. R. has been ill this week. Ray whom all of us knew for many year, and to Mrs. ! Julia Bennett who had liv ,ed a rich, full life for 88 years. Rex Harris and family of Baltimore, Md. spent the 4th with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Harris. Mrs. Jonnie McCurry who has been very sick is some better. Mrs. S. A. Young and son Richard are visiting rela tives in Portsmouth, Ohio Margarette McCurry spent the week end in Asheville. J Cleveland Wyatt and family of Greenville, S. C. visited relatives here Sun day. Glenna, the small daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Boone,, has returned from Marion Hospital. She was very sick but is improving. Mr. and Mrs. V. J Good man and children of Con cord visited friends here during the week end. Peggy Johnson and Eli zabeth Ann Roberts have [ returned from a trip to Washington, New York and Virginia Beach.
