Avery County Chamber
of Commerce took over the
obligation for that county.
That organization has sent
its check for $120.00 for
prizes.
Yancey County business
men .have underwritten
their $120.00. The list of
subscribers is not available
as this newspaper goes to
press. It will be published
next week.
Ample Prize Money
Available
Original plans were to
have at least SBOO.OO for
prizes. Allotments to Avery
and Yancey were made on
that basis. More than the
$1,000.00 is in hand and in
sight. There will, however,
be some expense for rib
bons, printing and inciden
tals, including traveling ex
penses for the judges. Toe
River Fair Association will
make no charge for the use
of the grounds.
Whatever is available af
ter expenses are met, will
be available for prizes. Sin

the SBOO.OO originally plan

deadline also was made to
add a championship for
each breed of dairy cattle.
In other words, four cham

are entered. The reserva
tion was made, however,
that if there was only a
single annual in one of
these championship classes
it would not be eligible for
such a prize.
The amount of the prize
money to be awarded to
blue, red and'white ribbon
winners will be about the
same as last year. With the
money in hand, it seems
certain that at least as
much per winner will be
available. ,
No Charge to Owners For
Entries for Cattle Show
Owners of beef and dairy
cattle who wish to enter
their animals in the Tri-
County Cattle Show may
do so without charge. After
having entered animals
there will be no obligation
to bring them, if for any
reason it turns out incon
venient for the owner to
do so.
Cattle owners of the
three counties must make
their entries before noon
on Thursday, August 31,
through the farm agent of
their own county. The de-,
cision to permit owners to,
bring their animals the’
morning of the show makes
it absolutely necessary that
all entries be in hand the
noon before. This is in or
der to permit time to get
all entries classified and a
good deal of other pencil
work done.
