PAGE FOUR Around The Mt. Mitchell Forest Service District By Gteorge Vitas, U. S. Forest Ranger Everywhere we go we note strong- signs of ten-J sion among people. Folks appear to have less patien ce, are inclined to burst out at the least provocation. Little things which nor mally would be laughed off seem to become the cause for major disagreement-- Recently, in Miami, Florida we w T ent into a crowded 1 restaurant- In walked a middle-aged portly little man who sat down beside us. He ordered his meal and after his food was brought him he hailed the waitress, “Miss, I vant a 1 piece of garlic.’’ The wait ress very courteously said, “But Sir, we don’t have any garlic.” To. which he re plied, “But I vant a piece of garlic; I always have a piece of garlic with myj meal.” The waitress was very busy waiting on a doz-J en customers. We were sorfy that we hadn’t thought to suggest this sol ution to the man before he 'stomped out of the restau rant. On the other hand we have a hunch that it would have done no good. It would have deprived him of an excuse over which to create a scene. He acted like a man who was disatis !fied with "himself and the world and was taking it out on the waitress.
