THURSDAY, JUNE 21, 1931 Notice Os Fish Stocked In The Waters Os Yancey County . In accordance with pre viously approved plans, the Wildlife Resources Com mission has completed' stocking of 2000 small river bass averaging 2 inches in length, in the waters of Cane River. These fish were produced at the State Fish Hatchery located near Table Rock. District Game and Fish Protector, Milton Higgins directed the re lease of the fish and soli cited assistance from mem bers of the .local wildlife club and other interested sportsmen. The Wildlife Resources Commission points out that the cooperative effort of all those interested i n the State’s fish and game re sources will be required to bring about better fishing, the favorite outdoor re creation of so many Amer icans. Department of Com , merce on the 1950 Census of Agriculture in Yancey ; County it was shown that there were 2,740 farms in the county with an average size slightly above 44 acres. The 1950 value per farm was shown at $4,399. There were 608 farms containing 10 acres or less, with the highest number, 829, ranging around 30 ac res. The number of farms drop rapidly above 50 ac res; however, five were re ported to contain' 1000 ac res or above. Farmers on 441 farms reported no sales of pro ducts from the previous season while 45 reported sales amounting from S6OOO to SIO,OOO. All pro ducts sold amounted t o $1,436,011.
