ENSLEY-HESTER Wedding Announced Miss Annie Eloise En sley of Newdale and Bris tol, Tenn., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Ensley of Newdale, became the bride of Melvin Stanford Hester of Logan, W. Va. and Bris tol, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hester of Logan, Thursday morning at 11 o'clock home of Mrs. Jerry Kucker of Bristol. The Rev. L. W. Pierce, retired Methodist minister, performed the double riny ceremony before an arch of standards of candelabra and greenery. The home was decorated with arran gements of laurel and ferns and white gladiolus, sweet peas and baby’s breath. Miss Sarah Spiro, pianist, presented a program of traditional wedding music. The bride wore a street length dress of white lace over white taffeta with matching lace mitts. Her shoulder-length veil of il lusion was attached to a coronet cap of lace trim med with pearls. Craig with Sally, Susie and Julie, arrived from Miami t o spend the summer at their mountain home here. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Threa dgill were called to Miami last week, on account of the illness of their daugh ter, Mrs. Tom Baden. Mr. and Mrs. Leßoy Pelletier are spending a short vacation in their cab in, having come from their home in Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Ira West spent the week end with Dr. and Mrs. H. C. Carver in Hendersonville. Mr. and Mrs. George Hott of Miami,* Fla., were guests last week at Grass muck’s “Story Book Home.” A capacity crowd gather ed at the Cattail Commun ity Hall last Friday night to celebrate the “First An nual Birthday Jamboree”, and a fine celebration it was. Folks came for many miles around, Burnsville, Spruce Pine, Celo. Green Mountain, Hamrick and Old Fort—to join with those who live in the near by vicinity. Several prizes were given to guests who participated in the contest dances, a beautifully decor ated birthday cake, holding one candle, was given as a door prize. One prize offer ed went begging for the lack of a winner. It was for anyone who did not laugh all evening. There was so much fun and laugh ter, that no one could qualify. Although dances are held every Friday night at the Community Hall, the next special party will be an “Old Time Barn Dance” on Friday, June 29th. The men are requested to wear their brightest colored shirt, and the girls to come in blue jeans. Huskins of Burns ville celebrated his 75th birthday at home Sunday. Mr. Huskins’ birthday was on Saturday but the cele-' bration, in the form of a! birthday dinner, was held Sunday so that more of his' family could be present. Attending the celebra- 1 tion were Mr. and Mrs. E. M- Cranford of Concord, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Huskins and daughter of States ville, and Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Andrews and family of Brevard. PLONK SCHOOL TO OPEN WEDNESDAY Asheville The Plonk School of Creative Arts, the only school of its kind in the South, opens its doors to summer- students on Wednesday, June 27.
