Mrs. W. L. Bennett, Mrs Bill Price and Miss Julia Byrd Bennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Bennett, spent several days this week visiting Mrs. N. A. Price in Rocky Mount, N. C. Mrs. Price plans to spend the 3 summer in Rocky Mount. Mrs. Lena Tilson left last week for Cincinatti, Ohio, where she is visting her son, Robert Tilson. Mrs. Tilson and Robert also plan to visit Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Tilson in Chicago. Mrs. Pansy Ray, Mrs. Bruce Westall, and Mr. and Mrs. Philip Ray made a tour of the Smokies last Sundaay, Mr. and Mrs. John Bennett and daughter, Joy, of Asheville visited here over the week-end, Bruce Westall and Jim Anglin fvere in Charlotte several days this week on a buying trip. Bowman Wed r To Garrett Dixon Bailey A late afternooh wedding which took j>lace Saturday, June 2, in the parlor of the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church of Huntington, West Vir ginia, united in marriage Miss Mary Olive Bowman, daughter of Haller Gerard Bowman of Huntington, and the late Mrs. Bowman, and Garrett Dixon Bailey, son of Mrs. Garrett DeWease Bailey of Burns ville, and the late Mr. Bailey. The Rev. Robert N. McDonald performed the ceremony in the pre sence of the immediate families and close friends before a fireplace arranged with white flowers and candelabra. The bride wore a ballerina length dress of pale blue silk shantung taffeta, with a fitted bodice, elbow length shirred sleeves, a boat neck line and a very full skirt. She wore j a matching pleated headband of blue satin with a short veil, and FOX-ARNOLD Miss Bernice Fox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Fox of Burns ville RFD 1, became the bride of Francis H. Arnold, son of Mr. and •tvs. Garrett Arnold of Abell, Mary land, in a church ceremony which look place June 1 in Marion N. C. The Rev. Woody performed the ceremony before an alter arranged with white gladioli and sweet peas. The bride wore a navy blue suit j with white and navy accessories j and a corsage of pink and white sweet peas. The bridesmaids, Mrs. Jim Arro wood and Mrs. Frank Fox, sisters of the bride, wore pastel blue street length dresses. Flower girls were Miss Lola Fox, sister of the bride, and Miss Louise Arrowood, niece of the bride. Frank Fox served as best man. The bride is a graduate of Clearmont High School, and the groom graduated from Margaret Brent Senior High School, Leonard lown, Md. Mr. Arnold is a veteran of three years service with the U. S. Army with one year overseas duty in Germany. After a wedding trip to Baltimore, Md., and New York City, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold will reside in Abell, Mjd. Mrs. Lloyd Owens has returned home after spending several days ip the Yancey Hospital. When the couple left for a wedding trip to Virginia Beach, the bride wore a beige and green silk print sheath dress with a linen duster, beige shantung accessories and a white orchid corsage. The bride is a' graduate of Huntington High School and atten ded Marshall College in Huntington. She is a member of Beta Chi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and Huntington Chapter 3, Order ' Estern Star. Until recently, she was employed by the Huntington Trust and Sa’vings Bank, « * Mr. Bailey is a graduate in poli tical science from Berea Cdllege j and received his LLB degree from Wake Forest College, where he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. He is a vete?an of ser vice during World War II with the Coast Guard; and during the Korean Conflict, he served as a first lieutenant with the legal de partment of the Army.
