Mrs. Alice Horton of Baltimore, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond‘Wilson and sons of Sioux, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Pender Bennett last week. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Powell and sons of Statesville were the guests of Mr.-, and Mrs. Robert Ramsey, Jr., here last week-end. Mr. and Mrs. William Davis and son of Asheville, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Murphy and children of Erwin, Col. and Mrs. Bryce Hed lund and sons of California, and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Boone of Ham rick were guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Murphy Sunday. Mrs. Pender Bennett of Burns ville, and Mr. and Mrs. Clate Ad kins of Sioux, will leave for Bos ton this week-end where they will visit Mrs. Adkins’ sister, Mrs. Ray Simpson. While on this two-weeks trip, they wilt visit. Mr. and Mrs. 1 Charlie Clark in New Jersey, and Mr. and Mrs. Gvady Edwards in Baltimore. J. Rush Beeler, who has been visiting his parents, s Mr. and Mrs. Wilke Beeler, left Saturday for Chapel Hill where he will spend the summer. Mrs. J. G. Low attended the con vention of the American Legion and Auxiliary in Charlotte on June 7-9. MBS. BAILEY HONORED WITH GARDEN PARTY Mrs. G. Dixon Bailey, recent bride, was honored with a miscell aneous shower and garden party given Saturday -evening by Miss Hope Bailey, assisted by her moth er, Mrs. H. G. Bailey, at their home on Summit Street. Upon arrival, the honor guest and her husband’s mother, Mrs. Garrett Bailey, were presented with shoulder corsages. The guests were met by the hostess who ac companied them to the garden where, they were introduced to Mrs. Bailey. During the evening, the guests were entertained with games, and prizes were awarded to Mrs. Philip Ray and Miss Betty Hensley. A motif of pink and white was used in the floral arrangements tor the house, where the guests were served a dessert course of bridal cake, mints, salted nuts and punch. Mrs. Edgar Hunter, Jr., Mrs. Mark Bennett, and her dau ghter, Miss Julia Byrd Bennett, assisted the hostess in serving from an attractively appointed table centered with an arrange ment of pink roses interspursed with other pink and white spring flowers, and encircled by crystal candelabra holding pink tapers. The garden was lighted with old English lamps, and a color note of yellow was used in the garden de- Major and Mrs. Sam J. Huskins, Jr., and sons, Gary and Kirk, of Scott A. Penland, who has been in a Black Mountain hospital, re turned home Sunday. Mrs. Rush T. Wray returned home Saturday from the Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville, where she underwent surgery. George Roberts was in Charlotte for several days recently on a business trip. Mr. and Mro. James Wallace and daughter of Hampton, Va., were visiting friends and relatives here over the week-end.
