Miss Joan Reeve returned to Philadelphia on Tuesday of this week after having sperit a two week holiday with her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Warren S. Reeve, in the Presbyterian Manse. Mr. and Mrs. Donald S. Melling er and Mrs. Vera Mellinger, of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, tra veling on a vacation trip to Flor ida, were unexpected callers on the Rev. and Mrs. Warren S. Reeve one day last week. Mr. Mellinger is an elder in the church Which Mr. Reeve served prior to his coming to Burnsville. Dr. and. Mrs. A. E. Gouge of Bakersville, and Dr. Cameron F. Mcßae of Burnsville, attended the annual meeting of the North Carolina Heart Association last week-end in Asheville. Mrs. J. W. Berry, formerly of Bakersville and now with the Winston-Salem Heart Council, also attended the' meeting. J. Rush Beeler left Sunday for Los Angeles, Calif., after a short visit here with his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Wilkes Beeler. Mr. Beeler is a professor in the French Department at the Uni versity of California in Los An geles. Mr. and Mrs. Tilson Fleetwood, their twin sons, Stephen- and Stewprt, and Perry Young, all of Asheville, were Sunday guests of Mr. Fleetwood’s sister and family Mr. and Mrs. Mark Bennett. Among them were Miss Mary Jo Young and Milton Young, son and daughter of Drake Young. Miss Young is attending High Point College, and her bro ther returned to Duke University where he is a senior in the Divin ity School. Jimmie Neill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Neill, will attend Cullowhee this year. Miss Margaret Wilson, who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wilson, will return this week to Franklin, N. C., to con tinue her work as Methodist Youth Leader for twenty-one churches in that vicinity. Bobby Jack McAllister, Morris Buckner and Jack Howell have returned from "a week’s vacation in Miami. A group of young people from Bald Creek Methodist Church will leave Saturday morning „ by chartered bus to attend the Meth odist Youth Rally to be held at Centinary Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Burton had as their guests last week-end Mrs. Sophie Templin, Mrs. W. Burdette, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray mond Gibbs and all of Johnson City, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. James Mclntosh spent last week-end in Kingsport, Tenn., as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Ayers. Mr. and Mrs. John Walton Stokes announce the marriage of their daughter, Martha Glascock, to Nollie Washburn Neill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burge Neill of Greensboro, on Saturday, Septem ber the eighth. Vance Penland, who with-stood a serious operation at the Mission Memorial Hospital, Asheville, is slowly recovering. The widely known Higgins Quartet was to be at the Horton Creek Church Sunday night. Will Dave Banks of Horton Creek, who is seriously ill, is now at the home of his daughter and sbn-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Evans In Asheville. Rome Parrott is seriously ill at hla home on Horton Creek. Autrey and six months old daughter, Debrah Ann, (pictured above) arrived re cently in Baumholder, Germany, where Cpl. Autrey is stationed with the U;-S. Armed Forces. Mrs. Autrey is the former Miss Kathleen McGee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl McGee of Newdale; and Cpl. Autrey is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Autrey of Burnsville, Route 2. Mrs. Autrey and her daughter went by plane from the Raleigh- Durham Airport to New City. While at the T. W. A. Air-j port in New Pork, little Debrah' Ann won a contest as being the most beautiful baby. Her picture was published in the New York Times and a free enlargement was given to Mrs. Autrey. On their plane trip from New York to Germany, Mrs. Autrey and Debrah Ann stopped in Cana da', Newfoundland, and London England, before going on to Frankfort, Germ; ny, where Cpl. Autrey met them. They went by car to Baumholder, where they will make their home for about eighteen months. Cpl, and. Mrs. Autrey like—liv ing in Germany and report that it is a beautiful country.
