"The Farmers Home Adminis tration, through acting Adminis trator D. H. Smith, has very gen erously provided me with com plete information upon the emer gency farm loan program now available to the farmers of the 11th Congressional District, and throughout North Carolina. This program is available to us because of the declaration by the Depart ment of Agriculture that North Carolina is an emergency farm area at present", Whitener stated. “If a farmer is unable to ob tain through commercial banks, cooperative lending Institutions, or other responsible sources, he may make an application for loans through the county 'offices of the Farmers Home Adminis tration. He must show, among ether things, that he has reason able prospects for success with the assistance of a loan”, the Congressman pointed out. Emergency loan proceeds may be used for the purchase of feed, seed, fertilizer, replacement eq uipment and livestock; for other essential farm "and. home operat ing expenses; and for the replace ment or repair of buildings, fen ces, drainage and irrigation sys tem* on individual farms that have been damaged or destroyed by disasters under the program regulations established by the Department of Agriculture. Loans bear 3 percent interest and are scheduled for repayment over the minimum period of time <MM*tt*fc*aWooPoooOaßOogMoaanCTewc««Bw»^^ 1 Gas For Less Service Station jj EAST BURNSVILLE Under New Managt meat : We Invite Old Friends and ( New Friends To Stop With Us t for Gas. The members of the North Carolina delegation in Congress and the Senate are gratified that the De partment of Agriculture has tak en note' of the serious economic situation of our farmers. It is our hope that thl3 emergency will soon pass and that our farm eco nomy in the future will not be faced with the necessity for a hardship designation", Whitener , concluded. r : '- - Mrs. J. E.
