N. C. Doctor Calls For Greater Attack On Polio Chapel Hill Dr. Samuel F. Revenel of Greensboro, Chair man of the Polio Vaccination Committee of the State Med teal Society, has emphasized that a three-pronged attack is necessary if paralytic polio is to be wiped out in North Carolina this year. In a special bulletin to all county medical societies, Dr. Rav enel outlined the attack as (1) ‘enthusiastic pushing of polio va ccinatio for every private patient by every private physician; (2) constant administration of vac cine in the established, free, pub lic health clinics all over the sta te; and (3) in the areas which did not undertake Buch a program last summer an initial, intensive, mass, free, public immunization campaign would be extremely helpful.’ This campaign would be implemented by the county medi cal society and would utilize all the resources of state, county and city health departments, and ev ery available local aid, he said. “Any program of immunization which’ utilizes only the private physician, will, I fear, fail to pro tect enough of the population,” Dr. R&venel said. The American Medical Associa tion, the North Carolina State Medical Society and the National Foundation for Infantile Paraly sis have combined forces to pro mote the vaccination of every one •from three months to 40 years of age with Salk vaccine by the end of June of this year. "Vaccinate Before Too La£e’’ is the national slogan of the big push to eradicate paralytic polio in 1957. FOR Floor Sanding, Finishing Painting, tile laying, by the hour or contract. It is an authentic, stirring account of the youthful preacher of the gospel, who at the age of 38 has probably preached face to face with more spiritually hungry millions than any spokesman for ; Christianity in all history. Told dramatically and at first hand by Stanley High, senior editor of Reader’s Digest, the story traces Billy Graham’s Cru sades from their inception when Billy as a teen age preacher barn stormed the South gathering in i converts to” Christ wherever he ;went. In his frank and objective [biography explaining how the Crusades grew and grew first in scores of cities across the United States and Canada and later in Great Britain, Europe and Asia, High says, “Billy put religion on the front pages and made it the chief topic of man-in-the-street conversation.” » ' What is of particular interest is that the author satisfies the natural curiosity of millions of people by graphically picturing behind-the-scenes workings of these highly successful revivals, how they are prepared, organized and financed. Such provocati v o questions as: I What manner of man is this handsome young evangelist who has reaped this rich harvest of souls ? Is he genuine ? Do his con versions last? Is he merely a flash in the pan or is he really the religious phenomenon of our era, are candidly answered in the story of the North Carolinian, who world church leaders declare “walks at the side of God.” , All of Billy Graham’s diaries, records and personal letters were made available to Stanley High, who also did on-the-scene re search in both America and abroad and followed in the wake of the Crusades, interviewing converts and ministers. < Heart-warming character sketches of the evangelist’s love ly wife Ruth and amusing anec dotes about his four children in 'their hilltop home in Mon treat, North Carolina, provide a wealth of human interest and show the basic simplicity of this most ex traordinary of men. « “Billy Graham” was just pub lished recently by the McGraw- Hill Book Company.
