T f Farm Housing Loan Program Expanded ! An expanded farm housing loan program to speed up farm building construction and Improvement as well as act as an additional anti-recession measure weis announced today by Mack B. Ray, ‘Farmers Home Administra tion county supervisor. Now an owner of a farm f in ag ricultural production- tend on which the operator plans to produce at least 4*oo worth pf farm commo dities for sale or home use may qualify for the 4 percent long term housing loan provided that he meets other standard eligibil ity requirements. . - Formerly, an eligible applicant had to own a farm that produced & more substantial part of the 1 operator’s annual cash income. Borrowers may use loan funds to build, improve, or repair farm bouses .vx other essential farm buildings, and to provide water for farmstead and household use. Mr. Ray Baid that in addition to i financing majSr construction, the loan funds can help meet many other needs for farm and farm : home modernization such as ad ding bathrooms, utility rooms, bet ter kitchens, and many other im provements to the home as well as to farm service buildings. While tenants and farm laborers Sre not eligible, the owner may borrow to 1 do construction work or make < improvements for them. 1 The loans are made to farm c owners who need credit to finan ce building improvements or re- f pairs, but find that adequate ere- c dit to finance is not available j through banks or other regular ; credit channels. The interest rate a is 4 percent and loans may be au- j thorized over periods up to 33 t yean. Application for this type . loan are now being taken at the local FHA office in Burnsville.
